- As Chief of Staff, to the CEO, your main goal will be to make the CEO productive and support him in running the business Heres a bit more

- This role is very cross functional and has elements of both an EA (usually no directs, working only for the CEO) and COO (work on critical items important to the CEO related to culture, strategy, customers - whatever it takes)

Key Day to Day responsibilities

- Ensure the CEO is prioritizing the right things

- Help complete priority items for the CEO to the desired level of quality

- Keep the CEO accountable for commitments, while helping keep reports accountable for results

- Amplify and improve the CEOs communication You would be in charge of tasks like running town halls, preparing speeches and prepping the CEO for leadership meetings

- Help the CEO level up the executive team A great CoS enhances and raises the game for the entire leadership of the company

- Do whatever needs to be done for all of the above

- A successful CoS will enable the CEO to do the following

- Make better and faster decisions

- Gets a lot more of the insight he needs

- Gets a greater ability to drive high performance by developing deeper relationships with my team

- Able to better able to hold people accountable to their commitments

- More time to be more productive

- Unique to this particular hire is its rotational status A typical tour of duty for a chief of staff is 18-24 months After that, you can transition to another role within a company, often in a position of leadership

- Being a chief of staff is a way to accelerate your career growth Its very versatile training


- Were looking for someone dynamic and youll need to have the below in generous quantities to succeed in this role

- You have 6-12 years of experience and somewhere in the middle of your career

- You have a strong IQ That means

- You have a learning mentality and get up to speed quickly on many things

- You are a strong problem-solver comfortable working with ambiguity and peeling the layers

- You understand business and are analytical, research-based

- You are open-minded and coachable

- You can dive deep - in the weeds- on the business side

- You fill pieces of the story together to help CEO come to decisions with cultural/management issues

- You also have strong EQ & project management skills

- You can build relationships really well across the organization and externally

- You connect the dots between teams and team members with ease

- You ensure that teams have the info that they need, ensure that action items that come out of any events get executed upon

- You can find the small fire before they become a big fires Sometimes that means nudging direct reports/acting on behalf of your boss

- You are comfortable with being the center without having a lot of ego in it While you- re like the spoke of the wheel, its not about you Youre the problem-solver and the person that can create success for others

- You are excited to make others successful in the sense that you- re giving them info for a meeting to give the CEO what he needs

- You do a lot of due diligence and look out for the best interests of teams
