Job profile summary BACKGROUND
Integrated supply and trading (IST) is the market-facing component of our trading activities Globally we work with financial institutions like commodity exchanges, investment banks and hedge fund IST is one of the largest physical traders of oil and gas in the world with access to a huge array of assets, including refineries, ships, tanks, pipelines and retail systems We work in some of the most dynamic market environments, applying trading, supply, risk management and information technology skills to what we do, all supported by a world-class control infrastructure
ISTs Vista team is ISTs new global innovation engine that will work with the most innovative companies and pioneering entrepreneurs around the world to deliver innovation for the business and the energy trading industry at large The team has the mandate to build or partner with innovators to deliver solutions that will reinforce ISTs core business as well as pioneer new transformative business models to unlock future value
Vista is comprised of a series of teams and works closely with existing teams that perform distinct yet complementary roles

Radar & Partnership Scanning the external digital landscape and relevant ecosystems to build relationships with key start-ups and industry leaders and developing proof of concepts and partnerships with these
Culture Driving ISTs cultural transformation to adopt digital solutions and promote innovation by organising and delivering events including start-up panels, digital briefings and a compelling communication
Strategic Data Uncovering novel and potentially unconventional datasets from within BP to unlock additional value for IST and potentially for external customers
Build Launching new technology-enabled ventures that can scale to become spinoffs to IST
strategy
Connected Innovation The intrapreneurship engine for IST responsible for sourcing ideas, incubating these and scaling them into mature products and services for the core

We will consider some form of agile working to enable you to integrate your work and personal commitments
It is anticipated that the Vista team and scope will evolve over time, in line with the development of ISTs digital agenda While Vista has a defined organization structure and model now, it is anticipated that as the business develops, the organization, its structure, and specific accountabilities for roles within it will evolve and as a consequence be reviewed regularly to ensure they are still appropriate to ISTs needs
Navigating internal teams, senior stakeholders and breaking down barriers across the wider organisation
Negotiating and mobilising resource, as well as driving long term strategic thinking
Discerning high value generating technologies and potential partners to drive results for the organisation in the short and long term and maintain credibility of Vista with IST

Internal Relationships
IST-wide across front/mid/back offices Regions, Divisions, Business Units Global and Regional interactions
IT&S and support functions including Procurement, Legal and Finance teams
Digital Innovation Organisation and other digital functions across BP (eg Up/Downstream)
BP Ventures

External Relationships
Innovators, investors and thought leaders across fintech and other industries, digitally focused or otherwise
Peers and counterparties, especially for market-wide solutions and opportunities
Venture builders and innovation consultants

Job Advert General

As this is a new role, the candidate will need to be resilient, accountable and comfortable working autonomously
Initially this will be a lean operation so the candidate must be willing to be hands on to get strategies defined and deliver early projects
A can-do attitude is essential, ideally gained from delivering change across both large corporate and smaller organisations / start-ups

Leadership & Management Skills
Experience previously managing teams and stakeholders in multi-cultural and global teams
Demonstrable experience in innovation or a problem-solving capacity where solutions have delivered significant measurable benefits to an organisation
High emotional intelligence and ability to influence and communicate across teams
Experience delivering communication strategies, events, and change management initiatives
Highly organised and able to drive project management across multiple partnership and cultural initiatives

Digital & Entrepreneurial Understanding
Experience working within a technology start-up and developing partnerships, proof of concepts, and / or pilots
Understanding of complex technologies (eg AI, ML, quantitative trading) in the fintech and / or energy sectors from an investment or partnership perspective
Extensive existing network and / or knowledge of innovation and entrepreneurship fintech and energy hubs
candidates should be prepared to work and thrive in this environment, both with respect to the growth and evolution of the business as well as working in an agile environment

ROLE
The Head of Partnerships & Culture will report to the Head of Vista, who in turn reports to the IST CEO The Head of Partnerships & Culture will be responsible for driving strategic partnerships between relevant innovators and BP IST functions globally, from originating partnership opportunities through to successful pilot execution They will be working closely with other parts of the business to promote the adoption of digitally enabled-tools and embrace new ways of working

Accountabilities

General
Oversee and help co-ordinate the activities of the Radar & Partnerships and Culture teams, managing and coaching junior members of the team
Be the key point of contact for IST business units and functions to drive digital partnerships between innovators and the wider organisation
