The Role Responsibilities

The Head of Group Planning is responsible for driving the end to end Group Planning agenda, including ensuring successful delivery of the Groups 5-year Corporate Plan and annual budget This role is accountable for Group planning process effectiveness, efficiency and risk management

This role has a broad range of responsibilities focused on developing Group Planning Strategy, driving insight, challenge and process excellence It interfaces extensively with senior Finance management at Group level, with Country, Segment, Function, and Regional CFOs, and the heads of the GFS centres and works closely with the Finance Management Team to develop & deliver a successful plan

Key Deliverables

Coordinate stakeholders across the Group to deliver

Group Financial Plan consolidation processes, including 5-year Corporate Plan & Budget

Group Management Team briefings regarding key outcomes and decision points

Group Board briefings and request for approvals of 5-year Corporate Plan & Budget

Various regulatory disclosures, including partnering with Group Risk to provide information to support Stress Test deliverables

Strategy

Developing and maintaining the strategy for the process, and integrating this with the overall Group & Finance Strategy, with a mid-long term horizon

Partnering with Group Strategy to determine how to develop and execute a planning process which facilitates the identification and execution of Strategic resource allocation decisions

Maintaining knowledge and insight into management of similar processes in comparable institutions, ensuring that suitable benchmarks are maintained for the effectiveness of each process and its cost

Developing a strategic vision and plan for the evolution of the process, covering people, operating process, policies & procedures, controls, systems, and data

Establishing a people plan for the process, identifying the necessary capabilities required to support an effective execution of the process, and agreeing with other GPOs and HR how these will be captured in the overall job framework across Finance

Specifying the future technology and data roadmap for the process, and negotiating appropriate investment spend

Processes

Designing, building and implementing a globally standardised process cycle (aligned with target operating model) This will include responsibility for identifying and building requirements across process, technology infrastructure to support the process, and the organisational design and R&Rs of the finance team Delivery of the process, and management of the process life cycle

Setting and managing the budget for the process
Executing the process life cycle to a high standard (fast, accurate, consistent, reliable) against the budget
Setting and managing policies, procedures and controls for the process
Setting KPIs for the process and delivering monthly management information about performance
Delivering the standardised optimised process with exceptions only for legal / tax/ regulatory variations,
Developing process framework, defining key metrics eg cycle time, cost, control, and managing performance of the process
Defining the requirements for delivery of enabling technology and data
Proactively identifying & resolving issues and performance gaps

People and Talent

Managing a medium sized global team of directly & indirectly-managed employees, with responsibility for all aspects of the employee lifecycle eg capability and training requirements, employee compensation, benefits, etc

Managing talent recruitments, retention and development needed to meet the people element of overall strategy for the process

Risk Management

Developing and maintaining the global standard risk control matrix, operating procedures & policies in line with the ORF and monitoring consistency of global controls use across the business

Governance

Understand the regulatory framework in which the Group operates in and responsible for delivering Management Information and Business Reviews that challenge fellow executives effectively; and work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner

Our Ideal Candidate

Relevant degree & post degree qualifications (ie CIMA / CPA / MBA)

Strong experience of operating and transforming Plan to Perform processes in multinational organisations

Prior experience as head of planning is preferred

Experience of leading large geographically dispersed teams

Experience of owning and developing planning systems (preferably Hyperion Planning)

Capable of successfully influencing senior stakeholders

Proven leader of transformational change who is able to inspire and motivate teams
