Position Title Head Global Process Owner, Research & Development Finance

Job Description The Global Process Owner R&D Finance defines the vision and strategy for the R&D Finance standard process, for all Novartis businesses across the different geographies, and works with IT to identify the global finance systems that will best enable the standard process Within this responsibility, acts as a partner to the business, leads process standardization and drive compliance with internal requirements and external regulations The incumbent will deliver productivity savings through a lean and efficient process supported by outsourcing, shared services and increased automation This role ensures good process knowledge and expertise across countries and regions, through regular trainings and sustains a global network of process experts

She/he will establish a well performing operation that meets agreed service levels, drives productivity improvements on a continuous basis and achieves operational excellence against defined benchmarks in line with standards of Global FRA Operations She/he will also build and develop talent, and drive a continuous improvement mindset in the organization

Major Accountabilities

Leadership and Management
Lead the creation of global standards through the development of a harmonized global blueprint, thereby ensuring that respective controls are incorporated
Engage with key stakeholders to lead the design and definition of R&D Finance processes
Leads continuous improvement and simplification initiatives by embedding new requirements into Enterprise Assets; subsequently leads the deployment of CORE systems (Enterprise Asset)
Govern enterprise assets and manage the release strategy
Identify, engages with, deploys and sustains an R&D Finance super user community

Implementation and Operations
Supports the FSCs in operational changes necessary to move from the divisional set-up into the new end2end process model, in line with the Finance 20/20 Vision
Build and lead team of process managers, business system owners and regional SMEs to document standard process and information flows and controls, perform gap analysis and drive convergence towards stardard processes Ensure active and effective sharing of knowledge and best practices within the organization
Define and document the standard process in your area of responsibility, comparable to best in class process definitions, and in line with the Novartis business models, guidelines and Divisions specific requirements, including reporting
Identify areas of opportunities for process & procedures flow improvements, including areas where harmonize and standardization of processes is possible to better optimize the investments made in the global ERP/SAP systems and the shared service centers
Develop and document standard process training materials and deliver standard process trainings and certification to Local and Regional process owners
Develop and document standard work instructions
Prepare and communicate the business benefits of global initiatives and projects to countries
Ensure stakeholder buy-in and involvement in key project decisions
Develop and Monitor process KPIs
Keep abreast on changes in Novartis internal requirements and external legal requirements which may have an impact on the process
Take business ownership of all CORE systems related to R&D Finance standardized processes; support CORE build and implementation
Manage Business ownership to ensure quality implementation of systems and deliver the business benefits as per the CAR

Establishes standard processes that have adequate controls which are in compliance with the requirements of NFCM and SOX 404 and achieves successful external and internal audit endorsements
Collaborates with FRA OPS Compliance & Controls and Corporate Financial Controls teams to ensure process compliance, and to ensure controls are improving by measuring the right controls while simplifying and automating whenever possible
Monitor all internal and external audit issues relating to the the standard process and ensure timely completion of action plans Where needed, provide support to the contries for issue closure

People Management
Role model a leadership style which is inclusive, proactive, respectful, change agile, innovation/creativity and results driven with a strong customer service focus
She/he will also build and develop talent, and drive a continuous improvement mindset in the organization and develop and execute training in the defined areas of process expertize

Minimum requirements What youll bring to the role

1 Level of standardization, harmonization and reliability of R&D Finance processes, systems, procedures and controls across Novartis
2 No overdue audit issues relating to standard process
3 Customer satisfaction, acceptance as a Global Process Owner
4 Achieve favorable KPIs reporting for specific process globally
5 Successful roll out of standard CORE systems and processes
6 Timely and proper execution of special topics / projects
7 Deliver business benefits and productivity as per target
8 Number of people certified in the Standard Process training
9 Development of Finance talent, ensuring retention and succession planning in place, employee satisfaction
10 Delivery of productivity targets through timely/successful execution of improvement projects leveraging across the organization

ensuring compliance to internal and external regulations, efficient and effective process with adequate controls

Ideal Background

University Degree in business, MBA desirable
Certified Public Accountant/Chartered Accountant
and/or comparable business experience

Excellent English (written and spoken)
Any other European language will be a plus

Solid financial background with 10 years spent in a finance, auditing and/or business process re-engineering positions
Demonstrated capability to communicate, influence and drive change across a global organization, including outsource providers
Strong project and change management skills
SAP or other ERP
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
International Exposure
