The Role Responsibilities

Strategy

Work with the CFO, Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking and CFO, Global Banking to develop and implement the strategies for the Global Banking across Clients and Markets

Business

1 Performance Management

To be directly responsible for the performance management processes of Global Banking and ensuring the provision of valuable insights into the drivers of business performance To provide the GBMT and its individual members, CC&IB MT and Group Finance and the Group Executive Directors of SCB, with the financial management information necessary to monitor the performance of business and its constituent global businesses
In particular, to ensure that GBMT and its constituent businesses (Client Segments FI and Corporates and Markets) have robust business plans and budgets, and receive accurate timely monthly revenue and cost information (as necessary) to enable performance to be monitored against these plans
Work with Regional Heads for GB Performance Management to drive the performance management processes and ensuring the provision of valuable insights into the drivers of Regional and Key countries business performance Close engagement with Regional Heads to bring the discussion on Key Strategic Initiatives and Business Driver for the Regions and Segments

2 Balance Sheet Management

Drive balance sheet planning, Liquidity and Capital management for Global Banking Ensure capital usage and allocation is optimised and drivers of capital usage are well understood

3 Finance Projects

Lead or support GB, CFO on Conceptualising and Developing Client EVA, Accelerate Client Income Reporting, Framework for Origination Corporate Plan, Incorporating Client View on Aspire or any other Finance Projects directly as it comes up from time to time and agreed with FMT and CCIB Exco

4 Accounting Policy Support and Advisory

Provide a source of genuine expertise on accounting policies, their applicability to the Global banking business and their interpretation in the case of individual transactions in partnership with Technical Accountant and CFOs for Segments and Products

5 Information Management

Create a strategic and scalable automated and scalable Information Management Infrastructure to support Global Banking To deliver quality MIS and Business analytics to support business growth and integrate Basel III risk and capital models into our Global Banking businesses performance management processes

People and Talent

To lead, inspire and motivate the CC&IB Performance management team ensuring that each individual achieves their potential and that the team delivers its collective agenda
Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners
Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people, and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks
Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles
Responsibility to review team structure/capacity plans
Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives

Risk Management

Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group relevant to Group Business Finance
Ability to interpret the Groups financial information, identify key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures

Governance

Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role
Responsible for delivering effective governance; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner

Regulatory & Business conduct

Display exemplary conduct and live by the Groups Values and Code of Conduct
Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct
Lead the CC&IB Performance management team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Banks Conduct Principles Fair Outcomes for Clients; Financial Crime Prevention; The Right Environment
Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters as they arise in connection with the role

Other Responsibilities

Embed Here for good and Groups brand and values in the CC&IB Performance management and ensure a strong influence in the Groups external messaging and positioning
Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures

Our Ideal Candidate

Degree Holder
Would generally expect the job holder to be a trained accountant with a recognised qualification and consequent membership of a recognised professional body
Requires ongoing learning market developments, accounting standards, capital and liquidity related regulation
Licenses and Certifications/accreditations; ie internal/externally required
Relevant Industry experience
Bank training; ie mandatory & developmental normal Bank training
Specific technical skills Good knowledge of accounting rules
Good knowledge of capital & liquidity related rules & practical experience of dealing with these
Strong product knowledge at least across the core business products
Experience of product control
