Job Description:

1 Performance Management

To be directly responsible for the performance management processes of Lending Product for Corporate, Commercial & Institutional Banking (CC&IB) and ensuring the provision of valuable insights into the drivers of business performance To provide the CC&IB and GB MT members, and Group Finance and the Group Executive Directors of SCB, with the financial management information necessary to monitor the performance of Lending business
In particular, to ensure that Lending Product have robust business plans and budgets, and receive accurate timely monthly Revenue and Balance Sheet information to enable performance to be monitored against these plans
Work with Regional GB Heads for Lending Performance Management to drive the performance management processes and ensuring the provision of valuable insights into the drivers of Regional and Key countries business performance Close engagement with Regional Heads to bring the discussion on Key Strategic Initiatives and Business Driver for the Regions and Key markets
Represent Finance on Lending NFRC and provide valuable inputs into the control and governance framework for the Lending Product including PPG, booking model and reporting

2 Balance Sheet and Portfolio Management

Drive balance sheet planning, Liquidity and Capital management for Lending Product and partner with CC&IB Finance lead on Balance Sheet and Capital management Ensure capital usage and allocation is optimised across CC&IB and drivers of capital usage are well understood
Work with CPM on Portfolio Management (Loan Sales, CLOs etc) in assessing commercial value of the distribution decisions of underlying lending portfolio and create insightful MIS around the Costs and Benefits (RWA efficiency) through the Portfolio Management Strategy
Be the single point person for understanding the scenarios for Stress testing for Lending Product for ICAAP, BoE etc, assessing the inputs, reviewing and analysing the outputs and discuss with CC&IN and GB CFOs for presentation to relevant governance forum for Stress Testing

3 Credit Impairment

Develop and maintain appropriate policies and procedures which ensure that Credit Impairment budgets are linked with business origination strategy and credit outlook as front line owners
Work with Risk, Risk Finance and CPM colleagues at Group and Regional level to ensure that IFRS 9 Impairment models and inputs parameters are well understood and output is carefully and diligently reviewed for actionable decisions
Institute a process and governance to review the portfolio to understand Potential Credit Migration in the portfolio to Stage 2 and Stage 3 credit impairments
Create an MIS on CC&IB Impairments with Risk Finance and CPM which provides insights on portfolio quality, actual impairments, attribution of credit impairment, potential impairments, settlements and reversals and capital usage by Stage 3 clients

4 Finance Projects

Be a Lead for CC&IB Finance or support GB, CFO on some of the Finance Projects directly as it comes up from time to time and agreed with FMT and CCIB Exco eg Financial* Project etc

5 Accounting Policy Support and Advisory

Provide a source of genuine expertise on accounting policies, their applicability to the Lending Product and their interpretation in the case of individual transactions in partnership with Technical Accountant and CFOs for Segments and Products

6 Information Management

Create a strategic and scalable Information Management Infrastructure to support Lending Product and Credit Impairment To deliver quality MIS and Business analytics to support business growth and integrate Basel III risk and capital models into our Lending businesses performance management processes

People and Talent

To lead, inspire and motivate the GB Finance team ensuring that each individual achieves their potential and that the team delivers its collective agenda
Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners
Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people, and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks
Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles
Responsibility to review team structure/capacity plans
Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives

Risk Management

Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group relevant to Group Business Finance
Ability to interpret the Groups financial information, identify key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures


Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role
Responsible for delivering effective governance; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner

Display exemplary conduct and live by the Groups Values and Code of Conduct
Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct
Lead the CC&IB Performance management team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Banks Conduct Principles Fair Outcomes for Clients; Financial Crime Prevention; The Right Environment
Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters as they arise in connection with the role

Degree Holder
Would generally expect the job holder to be a trained accountant with a recognised qualification and consequent membership of a recognised professional body
Requires ongoing learning market developments, accounting standards, capital and liquidity related regulation
Licenses and Certifications/accreditations; ie internal/externally required
Relevant Industry experience
Bank training; ie mandatory & developmental normal Bank training
Specific technical skills Good knowledge of accounting rules
Good knowledge of capital & liquidity related rules & practical experience of dealing with these
Strong product knowledge at least across the core business products
Experience of product control
