Position Summary

The Economics and Business Analysis team at Jacobs is nearly 70 strong and spread throughout the UK We undertake consultancy work for both public and private sector clients This covers a full range of economics sectors and infrastructure types (including aviation, rail, road, and energy)

Our public-sector projects include research to inform policy development along with economic appraisal to inform decision-making at all levels Our multidisciplinary team offers the unique opportunity to get involved in cutting edge economics on social outcomes, wellbeing and social value; urban and city development; environmental economics; as well as in a wide range of infrastructure assessments from business cases to socio-economic assessments as part of the planning process Our private sector projects can involve elements of business forecasting, strategic advice, transaction due-diligence support, and bespoke operational modelling In some cases, this work is delivered through our LeighFisher brand

We work closely with colleagues across the company to ensure an integrated approach to sustainability is applied on all projects and seek to drive up social value in all cases

Role Outline/ Responsibilities

Support specific areas of analysis and research

Support economic analysis and business modelling

Draft client reports

Contribute more widely to developing the Economics and Business Analysis team by contributing to proposals and marketing initiatives

Qualifications

Essential

Hold a relevant degree (21 and above, or equivalent) in a numerate discipline such as economics, mathematics, business studies, engineering, science or operational research, or in a relevant social science topics;
Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills;
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint;

Excellent organisational and communications skills;

Fluency in English (written and verbal)

Desirable

A demonstrable interest in one or more of the sectors in which we operate

Knowledge of other software packages such as Microsoft Access, SPSS, GIS packages etc

Dissertation or other academic experience in a relevant subject area

Relevant placement experience in Industry

Fluency in one or more additional language

Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to share ideas and expertise with team members;

A willingness to learn and experience a range of different projects, working with multi-disciplinary teams;
