As a member of the Golf Management Team, the Head Golf Professional has the responsibility for the management of the golf operation while working cooperatively with the Director of Golf

Hotel Overview Reigning from Bermudas highest point, over a majestic 100 acre estate, Fairmont Southampton is located on the southern shore of Bermuda Fairmont Southampton has been the islands premier luxury resort since its opening in 1972 and is regarded as a leader in the hospitality industry on the island

Summary of Responsibilities

Assist with the reservation system, starting, monitoring, and pace of play
Track and verify all players and guests, green fees, golf cars, club care and other charges necessary, and facilitate accurate accounting and recordkeeping
Assist with golf car fleet while ensuring proper maintenance and recordkeeping
Develop and manage an innovative tournament program, group outings, and leagues that service all customer segments
Assist with retail merchandise concession in step with the mission of the golf operation and facility
Maintain a profitable golf merchandising operation
Assist with development of buying plans and all golf related purchasing
Supervise physical inventories, present a diverse and desirable array of golf equipment, apparel, accessories
Assist in the development of necessary systems utilizing POS to safeguard inventories and cash
Establish accurate recordkeeping policies and procedures
Assist with the financial and operational performance of the golf shop operations and golf services
Ensure all financial goals and objectives are being achieved
Assist in the development and preparation of budgets, including forecasting and review of all golf operations revenues and expenses on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis
Ensure systems controls are in place to safeguard assets, revenues, and resources
In keeping with facility goals, utilize yield management techniques to maximize course usage

Qualifications

3-5 years experience in a related position as Golf Professional

Successful completion of a recognized Golf Management/Operations program having achieved a professional golf accreditation

Thorough understanding of the Golf Retail Industry with a minimum of 3 years practical buying experience required

Sales and marketing knowledge with a proven track record in successful promotion of golf packages and programs

Maintain Bermuda PGA Class A membership in good standing

Highly organized with proven decision making skills

Strong business acumen with demonstrated leadership skills and knowledge of accounting and financial management in relation to the operation of the golf course

A demonstrated passion for guest service, and exceeding expectations

Excellent oral and written communication skills

A demonstrated competency for the game of golf with the ability to play golf in a public relations role with key clients and guests is a prerequisite

Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations

Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees

Self-motivated with desire to promote and market

Remain up-to-date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies

Experienced computer user including; Microsoft Word and Excel Proficient in other applications, ie email, internet, tournament and database
