Global Operations Centre Systems Specialist

Why this role matters

The purpose of the role is twofold

Primarily responsible for administering the internal GOC infrastructure and associated client connections, deploying, configuring and updating monitoring, AV and WSUS software remotely on clients sites

Secondary As required to cover shift schedule, remotely monitoring and administering our clients systems As alarms come in from the field and/or systems, this role holder will be responsible for the timely logging, escalation and tracking of the issues using the pre-defined procedures and systems They will be providing technical support to both our field technicians and our customers for GRM related installation/commissioning and troubleshooting issues Additionally as the senior member of the GOC team the role holder will be expected to be an escalation/support point for colleagues and provide coverage for the Head of GOC when required

What youll be doing

Key Responsibilities

Manage and administer the Internal GOC Microsoft/Windows environment Including but not limited to SQL Database, Active Directory, Network Policy Server, Remote Desktop Gateways, WSUS etc
Manage and Administer the Internal GOC Unix environment
Manage and Administer the Internal GOC VM environment
Manage and Administer the Internal GOC Modular Disk Storage Systems
Manage and Administer the Internal GOC Microsoft SharePoint sites
Manage and Administer the Internal GOC SSL/Security Certificates
Manage and Administer F5 LTMs VM Appliances
Manage and Administer the Internal GOC Infrastructure monitoring using various NMS applications Such as NetIQ, Solarwinds, Nagios, Cisco Prime Infra, F5 Health Monitors Trend/Health Reporting of Internal GOC Infrastructure
Develop applications to automate tasks, integrate systems and improve current systems
Complete installation and configuration for VPN remote monitoring on customer systems
Complete initial fault isolation, pro-active maintenance, and monitoring of customer platforms and technologies Perform routine and preventative maintenance tasks according to schedule
Remote administration of various platforms and technologies (Trading Systems, IPT, Voice Recording, LAN, BGP, IPSEC VPN, MPLS, etc)
Quickly analyse technical situation/problem and escalate or work with other support organizations as needed
Make decisions to escalate and delegate issues when necessar
Resolve problems quickly while maintaining a high-level of support for all customers
Work with Operations team members to develop technical solutions Alarm analysis and trending
Raise, track, and close service tickets Documentation of Internal GOC Processes and Procedures

Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
Minimum 7 years of professional IT experience with 2 years in supervisory / team lead
Will have obtained some appropriate recognised current accreditation to an external professional body and/or industry standard (MCSE/CCNA/CCNP/CCIE/VMWare/Nutanix/ITIL)
Experienced in Wintel & Linux platforms
Infrastructure design & IT Security
Track record in project management in working with vendors and stakeholders

Relevant professional experience

Key Skills/Experience

Administrator level proficiency in Operating Systems including Windows 2008, 2012 2016 Servers as well as various flavours of Linux / Unix systems
Programming experience (HTML, Java, JavaScript, VB) Advance Database experience (MYSQL, MSSQL) Nutanix/VMWare Design/Build/Provisioning of Resource
Cisco Routers and Cisco Catalyst Switches basic knowledge is a must Advance knowledge with relevant certifications is a plus
Knowledge of different protocols TCP/IP Stack, SNMP, SMTP, IPSEC, BGP, and OSPF
Experience using and configuring various NetIQ modules, NetIQ App Manager and Novell Operations Centre
Experience of BT ITS (Integrated Trading Systems) and associated technologies
Must have advanced analytical skills and be able to quickly learn new skills with minimal training
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to provide detailed documentation of actions as they occur
Willingness work flexible hours and to participate in shift schedule to assure 24x7x365 staffing of GOC and fulfil the business requirements
Proficiency in multitasking, self-managing and directing
Must be a team worker who remains calm and patient under pressure
Excellent customer service skills
Highly developed understanding of data centre schedules and operational procedures
Functional knowledge of telephony technology, PRIs, QSIG, SIP and networking technology, TCP/IP, LAN, MPLS, QoS
Knowledge of Cisco CUCM platforms, features and capabilities
Ability to provide training to colleagues where required
