Job Description:

Fire Suppression Technician ( AFC000297 )



Responsible for operation, maintenance and repair of all fire suppression systems to include hoods and ducts, fire sprinklers, fire suppression water storage tanks and the resetting of any fire suppression system that has been activated, with or without fire suppression agent being released The qualified candidate shall work with a team of Electricians, Fire Alarm Technicians and Fire Suppression Technicians

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES Please list by order of priority and, if possible, provide the percentage of time spent on the activity all should equal 100 PERCENT

Complete effective and efficient inspection, testing, maintenance, repair and reporting services to upkeep the fire suppression systems in accordance with UFC and NFPA standards

Shall coordinate the repair of all mechanical and electrical deficiencies identified as a result of inspection, testing and maintenance with the on site customer

Shall prepare and submit written reports after the completion of all inspections, maintenance, repairs, tests, and certifications of each system and implement a preventative maintenance plan

Shall have the skills and ability to inspect, test, and maintain fire suppression systems; interpret instrument and meter readings, wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings and technical publications, use applicable test equipment, safety rules and practices, environmental policies, and operation and repair of on-site fire suppression systems

Shall request parts through government established processes, receive parts and install

Responsible for following a comprehensive quality and safety program in compliance with Vectrus, OSHA and United States Air Force (USAF) requirements
Responsible for following a comprehensive, flexible, and properly documented training program
Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, sanitary, healthy, presentable, professional atmosphere, free of dust, clutter and trash in all working facilities and areas
Responsible for proper utilization and safeguarding of all government and contractor provided property (eg, to include government facilities, equipment and tools)
Responsible for precise execution of company time reporting procedures and accurate completion of timesheet
Performs other duties as assigned


Fire suppression systems to include, wet-pipe sprinkler systems, hood and duct systems, wet chemical systems, temperature sensing elements, hydrostatic testing, hangers and seismic braces, guages, alarm devices, hydraulic nameplate, control valves, and fire pumps Standard office equipment (Computer, phone, scanner), automated management systems and tools associated with repair and maintenance work May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that require wear of hard hats, gloves, steel toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses and other personal protection equipment (PPE); may be required to push, pull and lift heavy equipment Use of portable or vehicle equipped radios to maintain contact and accountability of work activities


Work will be outdoors and indoors Exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, chemicals may occur Overtime and shift work may be required depending on contractual needs Employee must comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations and published Company work rules as well as written instructions Task specific work environment training will be provided as required Must be prepared to function in a wartime environment to support U S interests 100 PERCENT Overseas Assignment


Physical requirements include lifting up to 35lb, team lifting up to 50lbs, climbing, extended sitting, or standing, stooping, stretching, and bending Occasional climbing and working in high places may be required



Education/Certifications One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required

Must have one of the four qualifications listed

Factory trained and certified for the following fire suppression systems TycoFire Fire Ex UK, Ansul,

Certified by a nationally recognized fire system certification organization

Registered, licensed or certified by a state or local authority

Employed and qualified by an organization listed by a nationally recognized testing laboratory for the servicing of fire suppression systems

High school diploma or equivalent

Must have a current, valid U S Passport and Drivers License (able to drive manual transmission)

Must have and maintain a valid U S SECRET Security Clearance prior to deployment

Must be able to pass a flight line access test and obtain flight line access badge

Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include psychological, medical, dental, drug

testing and background checks

Candidates must successfully complete both online and hands-on CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) defense

training Training includes the successful fit testing of DOD provided protective gear


Shall have five years of experience in the inspection, testing and maintenance of fire suppression systems

Shall be proficient in the Unified Facilities Criteria and National Fire Alarm Code


Must be proficient with Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point

Fluent in English with good verbal, reading, and writing skills

Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems

Able and willing to work periods of long hours to meet mission requirements

Military experience in a contingency environment and knowledge and experience working with government contracts preferred
