Job Description:

Fire Extinguisher Repairer ( PEN001729 )



Responsible for testing, maintenance and disposal of fire extinguishers and described in the performance work statement per applicable NFPA standards in support of base operations The qualified candidate shall report to the OM&R Lead and work with a team of operations maintenance and repair technicians and support personnel


Complete effective and efficient inspection, testing, operation, installation, maintenance, repair, replacement of fire extinguishers following the NFPA-10 Code

Shall have the skills and ability to inspect, test, and maintain fire extinguishers; interpret instrument and meter readings, use applicable test equipment, safety rules and practices, environmental policies

Shall document inspection of fire extinguishers and provide a report of the age, condition and status of extinguishers on the base and maintain the system database in Excel of all fire extinguishers

Shall supply manufacturers recommended replacement parts and conduct repair depending on cost of replacement and shall dispose and replace extinguishers through government established processes and install in a timely fashion to ensure no delays in service

Shall inspect and tag IAW NFPA-10 all ABC, CO2, PK, Halon and CLASS K fire extinguishers (5LB, 10LB, 20LB, CLASS K) annually for proper pressure, volume, test/maintenance intervals, condition, and serviceability

Responsible for following a comprehensive quality and safety program in compliance with Vectrus, OSHA and United States Air Force (USAF) requirements
Responsible for following a comprehensive, flexible, and properly documented training program
Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, sanitary, healthy, presentable, professional atmosphere, free of dust, clutter and trash in all working facilities and areas
Responsible for proper utilization and safeguarding of all government and contractor provided property (eg, to include government facilities, equipment and tools)
Responsible for precise execution of company time reporting procedures and accurate completion of timesheet
Performs other duties as assigned


Fire extinguishers, tools and equipment Standard office equipment (Computer, phone, scanner), automated management systems and tools associated with repair and maintenance work May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that require wear of hard hats, gloves, steel toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses and other personal protection equipment (PPE); may be required to push, pull and lift heavy equipment Use of portable or vehicle equipped radios to maintain contact and accountability of work activities


Work will be outdoors and indoors Exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, chemicals may occur Overtime and shift work may be required depending on contractual needs Employee must comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations and published Company work rules as well as written instructions Task specific work environment training will be provided as required Must be prepared to function in a wartime environment to support U S interests 100 PERCENT Overseas Assignment


Physical requirements include lifting up to 35lb, team lifting up to 50lbs, climbing, extended sitting, or standing, stooping, stretching, and bending Occasional climbing and working in high places may be required



Education/Certifications One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required

Must be a NFPA or equivalent certified professional

Must be an OEM certified professional

High school diploma or equivalent

Must have a current, valid U S Passport and Drivers License (able to drive manual transmission)

Must have and maintain a valid U S SECRET Security Clearance prior to deployment

Must be able to pass a flight line access test and obtain flight line access badge

Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include psychological, medical, dental, drug

testing and background checks

Candidates must successfully complete both online and hands-on CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) defense

training Training includes the successful fit testing of DOD provided protective gear


Shall have two years of experience in the fire suppression field of work

Shall be proficient in the Unified Facilities Criteria and National Fire Alarm Code


Must be proficient with Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point

Fluent in English with good verbal, reading, and writing skills

Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems

Able and willing to work periods of long hours to meet mission requirements

Military experience in a contingency environment and knowledge and experience working with government contracts preferred
