The Estimator-Trane Creative Solutions is responsible for computing costs associated with projects This position is required to closely interact with the Trane CS Sales Engineers, Project Managers, Project Engineers, and assigned project staff to ensure timely completion of each project


Computing cost estimates for materials, purchased equipment, labor and other construction-related activities to assist management in bidding on or determining price of project
Collects project data and compares to our capabilities
Working knowledge of refrigerant piping, electrical, and hydronic piping schematics
Utilizes blueprints, specifications, and knowledge of construction industry to analyze project needs and compile cost estimates
Creation of preliminary proposal
Responsible for identifying potential cost savings and/or cost problems that may occur on various projects
Prepares transition documents and communicates project readiness for assignment to operations team
Documents work by maintaining files for each job
Calculates unit performance
Sizes and selects components
Obtains and validates vendor quotes
Generates and distributes final proposal
Attends, contributes to, and/or leads meetings with team members, sales associates, customers, and management as needed
Follows standards; helps improve literature, templates, and product quality standards
Uses a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD, Trane selection and pricing programs, and specialty vendor programs to create submittals, construction drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and IOM manuals
Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required
Supports the QMS by delivering quality products and services and meeting quality objectives
Works to consistently meet and exceed customer requirements
Continuously strives for operational excellence and continuous improvement
Other duties as assigned


Associates degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Business Management OR one (1) to three (3) years experience in estimating, engineering or construction management; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Familiarity with the operation of HVAC systems and temperature controls
Ability to communicate (verbal, written) effectively with others
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form


Bachelors degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands to operate computer keyboard, and telephone
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Must be able to perform all essential functions with or without Reasonable accommodations
