Job Description and Qualifications

Air Products has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Equipment Rehab and Shop Quality Specialist at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, PA


The incumbent is responsible for managing and coordinating all activities related to rebuilding Air Products equipment including LIN, LOX, LAR, LCD and LHY tanks, hydril tubes, vaporizers and manifolds This role supports the following functions management and oversight of assets through the rehab / refurb process (which is done by outside vendors) to get the equipment ready for redeployment, cost monitoring and control as appropriate, lead regular conversations with the rehab shops to ensure equipment delivery and quality, involvement in non-standard modification of tanks as required to meet project needs, shop audits and qualification, etc The role interfaces with internal customers such as the project engineers and the Product Team and also external vendors, suppliers, contractors, and fabricators to ensure the safety, operability, reliability, and profitability of the rehabbed equipment through the implementation of industry and Air Products standards, specifications, and work practices It is essential that the incumbent functions as an integral part of the team dedicated to achieving the goals of each project and the organization

The Customer Engineering (CE) organization provides customers with on-site storage systems for both cryogenic and gaseous products (oxygen, nitrogen, argon, hydrogen, helium) The storage systems can consist of cryogenic liquid storage tanks or high pressure bulk gas storage tubes

Own and maintain the Air Products relationship with the Rehab and Fabrication Shops, act as the single point of contact with regular communication relative to work in progress
Manage the rehab / refurb process for atmospheric, bulk gas, microbulk, and LHY tanks and tubes Identify the scope of work for each rehab project and issue Request for Quote
Manage special requests from the Regional Engineers and Project Technicians
Evaluate quotes from the shops based on the scope of work and contract pricing structure to ensure lowest cost and proper billing, reduce cost or prevent cost where possible
Manage the rehab schedule and expedite as required to meet our project needs

Coordinate the flow of information between various departments by utilizing effective verbal / written communication practices and software tools to manage and track rehabs, keep documentation in regards to the rehab / refurb activity of individual assets up to date in respective systems
Provide technical guidance and expertise to the shops in a timely manner, provide troubleshooting assistance to internal and external customers
Improve the effectiveness of the work team by sharing individual knowledge/expertise and make recommendations on processes, methods, and systems
Streamline procedures and documentation, recommend changes where appropriate and lead implementation, drive standardization and lower costs as it related to the rehab process / scope
Provide feedback to management regarding rehab activity and shop / vendor performance and work load
Ensure all Air Products specifications are being followed
Perform annual visits/inspections/audits to each shop to ensure compliance with Air Products policies / procedures and Industry Standards Address concerns as required
Audit the final documentation sent by the shop upon tank completion to identify any quality issues and ensure AP is receiving the proper documentation Address issues as required
Coordinate the resolution of nonconformance / quality issues related to tank rehabs by supporting the corrective action, following through on cost recovery, and identifying and implementing preventative actions internally and externally


Qualifications Independent, motivated individual, able to multi-task, flexible and open to new ideas, excellent communication (written and verbal) and organization skills
Technical expertise and problem solving skills specific to cryogenic and gaseous systems, knowledge of the CE asset pool preferred
Knowledge of manufacturing shops and industry work practices specific to cryogenic and gaseous storage systems
High School Diploma and Technical Associates Degree (or equivalent work experience)
7 years experience in the industrial gases business, cryogenic experience preferred
Proficient with computer tools (Excel, Word, Sharesite, etc)
Familiarity with SAP preferred
25 PERCENT Travel
