Job Summary

The EHS Technician is responsible for ensuring workplace conditions meet all regulations for the health and safety of all workers in the facility This position will also be responsible for maintaining or improving the environmental impact of the facility to support Ingersoll Rands sustainability standards This role will communicate and maintain EHS standards, which may require training of employees The EHS Technician must work in accordance with predetermined safety, quality, method and sequencing standards according to Standard Work/BOS


Deliver EHS training to plant personnel (typically classroom style with power point, video, and testing)

Conduct routine environmental and safety inspections
Review, coordinate, and implement EHS standard work as required by site EHS leader and/or Business Operations System (BOS)
Participate on safety teams (ie, Safety Committee, ERT, and Green Team)
Create weekly safety lessons
Perform duties associated with the management of hazardous waste, to include but not limited to labeling, inspections, and shipment
Collect and enter data into the IR EHS database
Serve as a resource to the production team as EHS questions or issues arise
Assist in incident investigations, including follow-up actions as required
Assist in the formation of JSAs
Perform health and safety audits as required
Run reports to convey information in a logical format
Other duties as assigned


Associates Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field required; 3 5 years of industry-related experience preferred

Knowledge of local, state and federal laws/environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance

Must successfully complete RCRA and DOT training within six months of the position for hazardous waste storage, disposal, and transportation

Current certification in First Aid and CPR by an accredited institution or must be willing to obtain

Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills that is able to build relationships with employees at all levels

High energy self-starter, results oriented, and able to work effectively with little supervision

Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and Internet Explorer

Must be flexible and able to work all hours, including weekends and off shifts as required

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to walk and stand, sit, stoop, or crouch The individual is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach/pull with hands and arms; occasionally climb Individual will regularly lift objects of no greater than 35 pounds Objects weighing greater than 35 pounds will require additional assistance An individual may be required to climb in and out of forklifts and operate dollies and/or pallet jacks

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Individual must be able to distinguish colors Individual must be able to speak and hear and detect smoke or electrical burn

All individuals are required to wear OSHA approved safety glasses with side shields and steel toe safety shoes Additional personal protective equipment may be required in some work areas, where posted
