To investigate the circumstances of priority Incidents within scope (independent of MFU or technology), assessing and managing the risk of re-occurrence (including mitigation of the impacts of a repeat) and to identify and secure commitment to deliver prevention of recurrence (PoR) activities across the BT estate

To enable BT Technology to deliver improved IT Service performance for customers, through the identification, analysis, and eradication or mitigation of service problems relating to the IT Systems & applications that are supporting that service

To analyse problem management data to identify trends and improvements actions in the IT estate To produce and present improvement proposals and identify risks to the business using quantifiable information

What youll be doing

Responsible for the analysis of data relating to IT Services in order to identify, own and drive service improvement plans where applicable using Continuous Improvement techniques to deliver an enhanced customer experience and/or improved business performance

Accountable for the appropriate outcome of Post Incident Reviews That the service impact, root cause, and aggravating factors are secured That steps to restore service are identified and progress the relevant actions to eradicate or mitigate these to avoid future repeats

Be able to provide a business summary of an individual Incident (or suite of related incidents) to senior stakeholder/Director level and to provide stakeholder communication throughout the life of the investigation, providing updates as requested

Accountable for driving the BT Technology ITIL process governance discipline within my areas of responsibility including those I interface with

Deliver regular reporting on IT Service performance and trends, and progress of both PIRs and Improvement plans and improvement proposals to the relevant stakeholder communities

Adopting a Risk and Issue Management Methodology relating to those IT services I am resoponsible for

Work on projects/operational support tasks independently with minimal guidance This may involve working alone or as part of a wider project/support team

Responsible for managing and developing teams or people for specific tasks or projects, including Partners

To provide analytical and innovative input to projects/operational issues that will support negotiations

May be involved in the delivery of specific tasks associated with contract based transformation programmes, strategic projects or change initiatives within time, cost and quality parameters

Lead the development and implementation and ongoing management of policies and procedures

Work with internal, external and third party suppliers

Be recgonised as a key contributor and provide expert advice to other groups on operational issues

Produce cost/timescale solutions/options and manage expectations as appropriate with Business Unit/LoB teams

Experienced and fully competent in own area

Acts as a key contributor in a complex/critical environment

Ability to lead and motivate cross functional teams to ensure resolution to cost, quality and time

Has depth of expertise in more than one area

Applies knowledge/skills to a range of activities

Acts as a source of technical expertise to others

Interprets client needs, assessing the full requirements, identifying solutions to standard and non-standard tasks/queries and offering assistance as appropriate

Interprets internal/external business issues and recommended best practice in own discipline and makes changes to own and others work to meet these

Manages costs for specific projects

Manages own time to meet agreed targets

Develops plans for own area over the medium term, including forecasting/organising all resource requirements and finance

Able to explain difficult concepts to a variety of audiences, to ensure that the meaning is understood

Creates informal networks with key contacts outside own area

Has a comprehensive understanding of professional communities relevant to the LOB and uses the PC development framework to maximise the potential of themselves, their team and the wider BT team

Have a degree qualification (engineering/science) or has served a technical apprenticeship and/or obtained NVQ and/or further education technical qualifications (ie HND)

Have relevant, contemporary and industry recognised qualifications appropriate to the specific function such as ITIL Foundation and BQF certification
