About the job

Engagement Managers are focused on maximizing customer satisfaction, retention, and growth by building and maintaining strong and long-term customer relationships, giving technical advice, driving value re-enforcement and adoption of services, and aligning and differentiating solutions and support based on specific customer needs The Engagement Manager (EM) is the go-to person for any Akamai- or Internet-related technical question a customer might have and is also the customers advocate within the Akamai organization that enables access to additional experts, gives insight into forthcoming developments and supports smooth running processes As a member of our Integrated Account Teams (IAT) the EM is collaborating with Sales, Pre-Sales and other Akamai functions to expand the breadth and depth of Akamai services adoption

Engagement Managers are part of our Global Services & Support (GSS) team, working with Sales, Business Support and Professional Services to deliver high value Akamai solutions to our top accounts Engagement Managers represent a combination of technical advisor, technical account manager and service manager for our largest and most important customers and always seek to provide the right solution based on our customers needs and business requirementsOur Engagement Managers possess the highest levels of both business and technical acumen - understanding customer business drivers, matching those to Akamais technologies, and clearly articulating complex solutions to various technical and business stakeholders


Serve as the central point of contact for the customer, expand client relationships, oversee integrated account team execution, and ensure we meet or exceed customer expectations

Work independently or lead small technical teams with Akamai customers/resellers to evaluate the customers web architecture and deliver the appropriate integration solution

Accountable for customer implementation portfolio, including architecture design, portfolio planning and throughput, creation and maintenance of operational controls and tracking metrics and deliverables

Participate in operational issues related to specific engagements, including billings, expenses, staffing, utilization management, among other client facing activities

Work closely with direct sales to educate customers on Akamais services and solutions - this includes conference calls, site visits, presentations, technical evaluations, technical objection handling, proposals, and follow up on all customer related issues

Gain good knowledge of customer technical environment, customer business and customer industry and provide advise on how to address identified opportunities, challenges and relevant trendsCreate and expand the customer relationship through exploration of the customers business

Exploration of the customers business and education of Akamais portfolio and roadmap

Up to 20 PERCENT travel required


min 4 years of relevant, customer facing and consultative business experience in IT and a university degree (Bachelor, Master, PhD)

Native French speaker and fluent in English

Special expertise, deep technical understanding and market insight into one or more Akamai product lines, eg Web Performance, Security, Media or Enterprise

Good general IT knowledge of common IT concepts and Web-related topics and technologies such as Web Performance, Media

Can technically do the job and answer all customers questions with no help from others

Advanced IT and business consulting skills

The individual will make sure that customer is supported and dont churn

Be able to demonstrate increased customer satisfaction, growth and show business agility

Demonstrate initiative to drive proactive tasks and give advice to improve the customer service

Constantly find ways to improve the customers setup, but also improve the customers business so they more value out of the Akamai investment

Provide industry knowledge to the customer by actively searching for relevant information (can support multiple industries)

Work on problems of diverse scope, following standard practices and procedures which are adjusted and advanced when needed, sometimes leading to new good practices

Demonstrate good business judgement and contribute to cross-account initiatives

The Person is always proactive and on top of all Business Units within a customer, their individual needs deliver all mandatory tasks
