Role Summary

Baker Hughes, a GE company is currently hiring an Empower (Workday) Test Developer based in Tomball, Texas

As the Empower Test Developer for the workday implementation, the successful incumbent will have the responsibility for development of the program testing strategy in a quick, clean, and comprehensive manner

In collaboration with the Data Validation, Testing and Governance leader, the broader Project Empower team, and our system implementation partner, this incumbent will also be responsible for developing and managing the testing strategies, coordinating the creation of test scenarios globally for each workday product function being implemented and coordinating the test phases (eg End to End Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Report Validation)

Essential Responsibilities

Identify and procure the necessary functional and technical resources to support testing

Coordinate the creation of test scenarios

Ensure necessary application test environments are ready

Train testers on testing tools and procedures

Lead, guide and monitor the test execution activities

Serve as an escalation point for testing issues

Prepare risk mitigation plans as needed

Report out test status to project management and other key stakeholders

Take ownership for a successful product outcome and anticipate needs across HR functions, system development/IT, HR operations, and production support teams

Recommend process improvements and an implantation plan to streamline and provide efficiencies through automation and process redesign

Lead initiatives through formal project management best practices and demonstrate effective project management skills in navigating risks and implement mitigation plans

Document, research and resolve issues related to testing activities

Ensure data integrity and accuracy of employee information across all HR systems through periodic reviews and audits

Create and maintain a fun environment during testing to ensure maximum throughput

Other items as assigned


Bachelors Degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science preferred; or other business related Bachelors Degree with extensive systems/analytics experience

4 years of data analyst experience, including the ability to understand business requirements, user needs and translate them into operational requirements

Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous work environment

Proven ability to engage and influence at all levels of an organization

Desired Characteristics

Previous experience with testing globally

Knowledge of Workday data

Demonstrated experience in analytical thinking and problem-solving

Ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy with highly confidential data

Experience gathering business requirements, developing reports, and prioritizing requests

Advanced proficiency with MS Excel & MS PowerPoint (creating graphics, charts)

Passionate about technology with the pragmatism necessary to solve problems and deliver value
