Electrical/Controls and Instrumentation Engineer - ( AER0000FD )

Description

This position is not currently funded When funding is secured, eligible candidates will be contacted with a funded link that they can apply to

Services will be delivered at a client facility in various locations including Dearborn, MI and Marysville, OH

The duties will include the following

Design, programming, installation, debugging, start up and check out of controls systems for process controls used in testing facilities
Bid package preparation, calculations, cost estimating, drawing and specification development Additional responsibilities include communicating verbally and written to clients, customers and coworkers as well as performing design related tasks
Will participate in all aspects of the project, which include proposal, planning, scheduling, allocation of resources, requirment definintion, design, purchasing, development, integration, testing, installation, and acceptance of the test facility
Will be required to work to a project schedule and work periodicaly in a construction environment
Responsible for coordinating/leading activities associated with planning and upgrading process automation systems, data acquisition, and control systems including hardware and software for the facility
Work with C&I/Networking/Software/Test engineers at the operating contracts to determine facility upgrade scope/cost estimates, establish common execution processes, troubleshoot facility problems, define specifications for new systems, coordinate development of new test processes, and facilitate customer requests for new capabilities
Work with Metrology Management Services and Professional Services as required to develop best practices for instrumentation/data acquisition systems at the facility
Supervise maintenance activities for electrical, controls & instrumentation, data acquisition, facility network, and calibration
Identifies potential improvements in test procedures, manpower utilization, tunnel usage, and test scheduling with the goal of reducing cost and increasing productivity
Will keep apprised of advances in technology to improve data acquisition techniques
Coordinate improvements in instrument sensors, portable data logging systems, data analysis software, etc that enhances test data quality, quantity or understanding of the test data results
Procure components and equipment needed to support maintenance and testing
Troubleshoot and isolate problems with facility electrical and control systems
Support test operations to ensure test automation for customer tests is completed and meets customer expectations
Oversight of subcontracts, ensuring accurate preparation and review

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelors degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering with a minimum of eight years of experience with electrical and control systems OR a Masters degree in electrical/controls engineering with a minimum of seven years of experience with electrical and control systems OR a PhD in Electrical/Controls Engineering with a minimum of four years of experience with electrical and control systems
Requires deomonstrated experience to coach and positively influence the behavior of others
Must be current in field
Professional engineering certification is a plus
Must have good communication skills, be self motivated, capable of working with little direction, and have good work ethics
Experience with PLCs, construction industry, control theory, and control system start up is required
Experience with data acquisition systems, vehicle testing, dynamometers, networks, construction industry, and system start up is highly desired
Programming experience in Visual C , LabVIEW, or Java is recommended
Microsoft network certification a plus
Must be proficient in computer network management
Must speak and write English fluently
