Description

The Director for Global Strategic Sales Development will be responsible in conceptualizing and providing strategic directions to build the functional sales capabilities of the business This role will also lead and develop specific sales initiatives to drive orders growth This role is a key strategic member of the senior business development and sales management team

Responsibilities

Ensure the Process Systems & Solutions Sales force is best equipped to increase project pursuit hit rate at higher margins
Drive the development of metrics used to evaluate the global sales channel with respect to effectiveness and efficiency in promoting, selling and closing orders for high technology solutions from Emerson These metrics will result in quantitative measures to identify areas for improvement in knowledge, skills, processes or support to achieve our sales and sales channel goals
Identify the tools and people required, to successfully support each of the key platforms (ie control systems, safety instrumented systems, operations management, services)
Develop and drive specific sales initiatives in order to deliver orders growth
Provide strategic planning and materials development for executive meetings and growth planning
Work across the PSS organization to help drive consistency of sale planning framework (Reliability Solutions, Remote Automation Solutions, Lifecycle Services and Machine Automation Solutions)

Requirements

Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science, plus 15 years of experience working in a Sales, Sales Support or Marketing Role

Experienced and familiar with DCS platforms or related high technology platforms
Familiarity with Emerson Process Systems and Solutions distribution channels worldwide (both Sales and Service)
Demonstrated abilities in Consultative Selling techniques / business justification process
Demonstrated presentation and/or teaching skills (must be able to effectively communicate a vision)
Proven capability to work with others in a highly matrixed organization
Strong strategic mindset, business insight and strategic vision

Preferences

2 years of experience in a management or leadership role
Experience (or familiarity) in the process industries
Have worked across multiple geographic locations (eg Americas, Europe, Asia)
Experience (or familiarity) in implementing automation projects
Demonstrated ability to define metrics and then implement a program to gather and report metrics on an on-going basis
Demonstrated ability to improve the effectiveness of a high tech sales force
Knowledge of Safety Systems, MES, Operations Management, or similar high tech solutions
Demonstrated ability to improve the effectiveness of a global high tech sales force

Additional Info

Domestic and International travel is required and is expected to be between 15-25 PERCENT
Relocation package may be included
