Director, Cyber Security Operations Center

The Capital One Security Operations Center (CSOC) is the core operations capability of Capital Ones #Cyber department As part of the 24x7 operation, the CSOC Director will lead a team of security professionals in the monitoring, analysis and investigation of potential cybersecurity incidents across the global footprint of Capital One Due to the breadth of scope, the CSOC Director will be expected to have an equally wide range of knowledge and hands on skills The CSOC Director will be expected to be a technical leader, and a people leader The CSOC Director will be in the trenches with their peers and direct reports during security investigations, and will advise and support incident response efforts for active threats

General Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day cybersecurity monitoring, threat detection and incident response operations for a 24x7x365 operation
Identify and hire industry-leading talent
Understand technology infrastructure and operational processes in order to enable a more effective incident response process
Communicate deep technical security threat & operations awareness across the #Cyber department, to include the CISO and CIO
Benchmark all monitoring, analysis, and incident response processes and technology against industry
Maintain a catalog detailing Incident Response processes, tools and functions
Develop, follow, and maintain playbooks which provide a visual depiction of various operational Incident Response workflows
Identify and enhance processes where automation has the potential to improve efficiency
Lead the Cyber Incident Management team in developing key performance indicators to measure success of the Incident Response team
Coordinate with various Information Security Officer teams in clarifying security risks, and roles and responsibilities related to ongoing Incident Response cases
Provide support to operational & cybersecurity strategy development
Provide SME-level guidance and direction on best practices for the protection of information
Maintain updated knowledge of best practices in Cybersecurity Operations and Incident Response processes to identify and recommend new technologies and/or processes with the potential to enhance operations

Basic Qualifications

Bachelors Degree
At least 10 Years of experience in cyber security
At least 3 Years experience managing and implementing security monitoring, correlation, and cyber response tools
At least 5 years experience monitoring on-premise, Cloud, and hybrid environments
At least 2 years of experience securing AWS environments

Preferred Qualifications

20 years of experience in technology
10 years experience as a people leader
15 years in Cybersecurity supporting and leading Security Operations
5 years experience with SIEM tools and log/IDS management
1 year experience with NIST cybersecurity controls and frameworks
1 year experience creating and reviewing corporate-wide policies and rules
CISSP certification
