You will use your expertise to

• Ensure quality development work is performed in the complex digital investment portfolio, including development work performed both within and external to the innovation and development team

• Support the enablement of standardization and tracking of development work across the entire portfolio, and significant improvement in the quality of program and project work, leading to improved investment discipline and ensuring the overall portfolio is delivering significant cash flow improvement and risk reduction for Suncor

• Provide oversight and participate in gate reviews, or directly lead development on high complexity programs and projects; ensuring ADEM Stage 1, 2 and 5 deliverables are of acceptable quality

• Ensure benefits have been identified for project/programs at the appropriate stage, and address root cause of issues leading to non-compliance; make sure that there is adherence to the investment evaluation standard

• Establish appropriate guidance, methods, tools, templates and quality assurance

• Mentor and train leaders and employees on delivering high quality development work and the ADEM methodology, for all groups performing development work on programs and projects in the digital portfolio

• Respectfully challenge entrenched norms for technology solutions, and develop solutions with partner alignment and consensus

• Establish and manage relationships with partners across all business units and functions (all parts of the business will be impacted by the digital portfolio); navigate critical relationships across a wide and deep spectrum of leadership within the enterprise

Must-haves (minimum requirements)

• 15 years of experience of increasing responsibility and are a Professional Engineer, Information Technology or Consulting Services professional (or an equivalent profession)

• Experience in Project Development or Management, ideally in a large matrix environment with a project governance framework

• A post-secondary education in Business, Economics or a related discipline

• A deep understanding of key business drivers and underlying issues, and you use a questioning attitude to surface problems; financial knowledge with budgeting and capital planning experience

• The proven ability to execute and influence operational discipline through teams; critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills

• Superior verbal and written communication, with positive relationship building skills

• A demonstrated ability to provide effective non-authoritative leadership and to build alignment with large multi-discipline teams, and senior level leaders

• The ability to influence and lead at multiple levels of the organization, including up, and oversee large interdisciplinary teams advancing complex initiatives

• Expert ability to multitask in a demanding and dynamic environment, handle ambiguity and deliver results on complex issues

Where youll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information

• You will work out of our Manitoba head office

• Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
