The Voice Platform Software Developer supports the delivery of platform technology upgrades (launch or enhancements) and the ongoing performance of live platform service The role therefore covers the full ITIL process framework (change, configuration & release management, incident & problem management, availability and continuity management, service level management and finance management incident reduction, capacity, availability

The developer takes user stories and decomposes them for implementation or testing by multiple teams They raise and resolve integration and application issues with suppliers, designers and other development teams They estimate the size of the work and realise a solution against the acceptance criteria They document and deliver customer training

They identify risks for the areas they are involved in and have a broad understanding of project management deliverables, understand financial and commercial considerations and assist the delivery manager and architects and designers where required They are fully conversant in current engineering techniques such as Agile Development and Continuous Integration Testing They leverage the experience of the relevant BT wide professional communities to discharge these responsibilities and coach less experienced members of the team

This particular role is based on design and development of voice applications This involves the introduction of new applications, development of software services/solutions, and integrating third party vendors products It will involve the whole software life cycle using Agile methodologies

They will interact with a team of technology specialists, architects, development managers within BT TSO and work closely with design, development, testing, service introduction, capacity management and service assurance teams


Provides technical leadership that enables systems and solutions to be delivered, integrated and tested to meet the requirements of key stakeholders
Identifies and resolves complex issues, bringing in required expertise from within BT and suppliers
Able to apply design knowledge in the resolution of design issues, and live network problems

What youll be doing

BT Applications and Services team requires a Senior Developer to join a team working on Cloud voice application for Enterprise

You will report into the lead dev/designer and will be a key player in designing, estimating, developing and shipping new features and enhancements to these important revenue generating platforms for BT

You will provide support, when required, to testing and operational teams and also help less experienced developers within the team to grow their skills and knowledge

You have done a computing related degree or have an equivalent professional qualification

Key Skills

- Automated deployments of all our services via Ansible/Kubernetis/Docker to try repeatable deployments
- Setup logging from all our components to a centralised store (Current plan intention to use OK Log)
- Learn how to configure Prometheus, set it up in model and live Raise any changes to our services needed so dev team can pick them up
- Setup alerting (email, slack, teams, etc) connected to our monitoring software
- Basic configuration (setting up dependencies, etc) in our CIT environment
- Working knowledge of HTTP Protocol
- Understanding of relational database design and how to implement in at least one RDBMS
- Experience building REST APIs
- Comfortable with Linux command line and writing shell scripts
- A shared belief in leaving code in a better state than you found it in
