Global Customer Support is growing its Database-High Availability team The Global Customer Support is chartered to provide quality technical support to the customers through Service Requests The team works very closely with customers, Database development team and other Oracle teams to resolve customer reported service requests This position is specifically for High Availability solutions of Database such as Data Guard, Backup and Recovery, PaaS Backup Cloud Service, ZDLRA etc Please see additional details and requirements below

Job Requirements

Job requires

- At least 4 years experience with Core Database products or 5 years experience with Applications products

- Technical Graduate degree ie, BE / BTech / BSc Computer Science/Management Information Systems and/or Post Graduate degree ie, MCA / MTech / MSc Computer Science with above average grade/rating

- Proven professional / technical experience, ie, demonstrating an understanding of Oracle Database at a functional and technical level

This position requires a master level knowledge of Oracle Database We are looking for a core technical person, having hands-on Database Administration experience on UNIX/Linux and/or worked as L3 level support engineer and/or having equivalent expertise/knowledge One should have expertise in Oracle Database architecture and in High Availability areas such as Data Guard, Backup and Recovery, RMAN, Troubleshooting various restore and recovery scenarios

TECHNICAL SKILLS

- Database architecture knowledge and administration

- Thorough understanding of the Oracle database features

- Managing Backup and Recovery through RMAN

- Setting up and managing Data Guard environment

- Ability to troubleshoot various restore and recovery scenarios

- Working knowledge in Enterprise Manager / Grid Control

- General UNIX/Linux/Windows concepts & Administration

- Extensive hands on interaction with large Database management systems

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

- Exceptional diagnostic and troubleshooting ability and skilled in using industry standard tools and techniques

- Ability and attitude to assist junior members of the team in training on new products and technologies is highly desired

- Excellent communication skills Able to communicate very well both technically and functionally in highly escalated situations

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

As a member of the Support organization, your focus is to deliver post-sales support and solutions to the Oracle customer base while serving as an advocate for customer needs This involves resolving post-sales non-technical customer inquiries via phone and electronic means, as well as, technical questions regarding the use of and troubleshooting for our Electronic Support Services A primary point of contact for customers, you are responsible for facilitating customer relationships with Support and providing advice and assistance to internal Oracle employees on diverse customer situations and escalated issues

As a Sr Support Engineer, you will be the technical interface to customers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Value-Added Resellers (VARs) for resolution of problems related to the installation, recommended maintenance and use of Oracle products Have an understanding of all Oracle products in their competencies and in-depth knowledge of several products and/or platforms Also, you should be highly experienced in multiple platforms and be able to complete assigned duties with minimal direction from management In this position, you will routinely act independently while researching and developing solutions to customer issues

Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment May have project lead role 4 years experience with Core products or five years experience with Applications products and have a technical degree ie, BS Computer Science/Management Information Systems/Science/ Engineering/Math/Physics/Chemistry with a 30 GPA OR (for Applications) proven professional/ technical experience, ie, demonstrating an understanding of Applications at a functional and technical level (preferably Oracle)
