About Us The position is with Specialty Product Technologies (SPT) SPT manufactures and markets products that sense, measure and control temperature, position, quantity, time, level and flow in the Process Automation and Factory Automation Markets The Specialty Product Technologies business unit generates approximately $100m in revenue combined with significant operating profit With two locations; Elizabethtown NC (approximately 60 minutes from Wilmington NC suburbs) and Plainville CT (approximately 20 minutes from Hartford, CT), the business unit has more than 350 associates performing marketing, sales, product development, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain management, human resources, finance and customer service activities The business is comprised of a variety of product lines under industry recognized brand names including Veeder Root, Eagle Signal, Namco, Dolan Jenner, Joslyn Clark, Superior Electric, Thomson, Hecon, and Partlow The markets served include electronic timers and counters, mechanical times and counters, voltage control components, variable transformers, thermoplastic bearings, safety light curtains, proximity sensors, fire pump controllers, limit switches and chart recorders


Job Purpose

Incumbents in the job family interact with customers and sales representatives to handle some or all of a variety of sales support functions depending upon level and experience including customer care, order entry, price quotes, returns pricing, credit, correspondence, and provided delivery information

Core Essential Functions (All of these may not apply to each position in the job family)

May answer questions regarding products, warranties, and services

May ensure customer satisfaction and order compliance with related regulations, contract, standards, processes, policies and procedures

May process, expedite and coordinate customer orders from pricing requests through completion Prepare forms, ensure compliance, and perform specific activities and process particular to assigned application

May provide quality responses to delivery, price, commission and product inquires and requests

May coordinate internal questions, concerns, issues, and processes with appropriate organization Provide services where appropriate and develop partnerships to ensure customer satisfaction

May review contract/purchase orders to ensure that customers quality requirements are met

Recognize potential problems and implement solutions in assigned activities

If required in position, ensures holds are cleared as appropriate

Act as an information source on customer order processing and/or service procedures

Maintain applicable reports, records, and systems (manual and computerized)

Assist operations, engineering and other departments where appropriate and develop solid internal partnerships to ensure our customers satisfaction

Assist new associates with their training by explaining, assisting, or referring them to appropriate SOP or personnel

May support growth initiatives such as updating salesforcecom, contacting perspective customers, and maintaining visual management

Perform other related duties as assigned

Job Complexity

Operate under moderate supervisor from established policies, guidelines and procedures Perform work responsibilities of moderate complexity that are recurring in nature with some variation from the norm Extensive work time in contact with related departmental staff and customers requiring tact and diplomacy, and ability to learn new information quickly


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Working knowledge of customer service procedures, practices, policies and related regulations General knowledge of Fortive products, marketing programs, and/or customer specific requirements is very desirable This is a critical customer contact position requiring excellent oral and written communication skills including tact and diplomacy, a pleasant, understandable phone-voice, and ability to converse fluently in English Proven, successful and verifiable experience in a first-line customer contact position is desirable

Position requires computer proficiency with MS Office programs and the internet A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is critical for success in this position

Working Conditions

Normal office environment with occasional walking to manufacturing floor Shifts may vary which may include overtime during the week and weekends
