Customer Quality Engineer

Basic Purpose

Responsible for determining the quality control and quality assurance requirements to insure that the production and shipment of products are in compliance with company, customer quality standards and delivery requirements Responsible to insure adherence to AS9100, FAA regulations as well as other Aerospace Industry requirements and Governmental regulations
Provide technical/administrative support to the Quality function, which encompasses Product Integrity and Quality Control

Principal Accountabilities
Interprets and analyzes quality specifications, drawings, and purchase orders; develops inspection procedures, detailing methods and gages used to assure meeting established quality standards and determines alternate inspection methods as needed
Evaluates customer contractual specifications and determines and implements Quality Assurance requirements specified by customer contract

Acts as a liaison and as a technical resource internally to support areas such as Program Management, Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Supervision and Quality Engineering in analysis and resolution of production issues

Responsible for assuring that the Quality Manual, Quality Procedures, Work Instructions and all other Quality forms and documentation are maintained current and are being accurately implemented by applicable departments
Ensure that the products meet quality requirements
Coordinate with Quality Managers to discuss and resolve product quality issues raised by customers
Update customers in a timely fashion regarding the status of quality issues or any requests
Participate in product quality planning and control process based on customers specifications and requirements
Inform quality management team regarding customer feedback and expectations on products quality
Prepare and update all necessary quality reports as required by customers
Train and guide quality management team in identifying and developing problem solving methodologies to resolve quality issues
Assist in new product development activities to avoid quality issues
Prepare and maintain product quality documentation based on AS9100 specifications
Develop product quality processes based on AS9100 standards
Mange and coordinate with the compliance team customer audits
Work with Quality Managers to improve quality management system based on customer audit results
Address customer issues in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction
Approve and initiates corrective action

Serves as the company representative in discussions with government and commercial customers on all quality matters associated with both adherence to and deviation from contractual quality requirements

Participates as a company representative in preliminary contractual reviews on matters concerning quality requirements

Improves the effectiveness of the quality engineering activity through focus on preventive corrective actions that will reduce manufacturing cost and provide increase to first time internal quality

Provides quality planning and technical expertise on various product lines concerning quality and inspection methods
Gather and coordinate data to support special projects (ZDP, UPPAP, QCPC, FMEA and Process certification)

As otherwise required, serves as liaison and provides technical support to other departments in evaluating design, production, and quality problems, as well as special processes such as welding and brazing
Education and Experience
Bachelor of science degree in engineering with a minimum of 5 to 7 years experience in a quality engineering and quality assurance position in an aviation related manufacturing environment
Must possess a strong background in statistics and quality testing,
