What will you do at Ciena

As the customer-facing technical consulting sales engineer (SE) supporting the ICP Account team, the ideal candidate will work closely with the Account Manager(s) on the positioning and sales of Ciena solutions into this very important group of customers

The candidate must be competent in positioning Cienas leadership in packet optical, packet networking and SDN, NFV and Orchestration solutions as well as be capable of articulating Cienas unique value proposition tailored to the customers needs In addition, the candidate must be able to perform technical oversight on all key initiatives and liaise with Ciena PLM to ensure delivery to the customer requirements This individual must be comfortable with speaking to the customer about new ideas and tailoring them to their business needs as well as changing strategy as the customer changes The ideal candidate would also be comfortable speaking to customers about their business challenges and finding Ciena solutions to help them overcome these issues

Responsibilities

Influence customer architecture and requirements and translate high-level needs back into internal Ciena product roadmaps
Drive the introduction of new concepts and capabilities into customer implementations
Consultation with both future and current customers on applications of Ciena solutions for next-generation network architectures
Architectural level engineering for all Ciena products and solutions
Prepare business proposal and architectural level presentations
Prepare detailed product based commercial analysis and customer-facing quotations
Lead and transition customers from end-of-life products to other Ciena products
Make independent decisions on routine technical activities in accordance with company policy and procedures
Review and respond to requests for RFxs

Collaboration with stakeholders

You will work closely with customer service managers, supply chain, PLM and others to ensure a great customer experience

Experience

Engineering background in the Telecom industry
In-depth technical knowledge in fiber optics transmission systems, telecommunication networks, switching, and network management
A highly motivated technical individual that desires to work on the application of advanced networking architectures
A background in packet optical & packet networking solutions and architectures
Demonstrate leadership in technical sales activities including experience in delivering customer presentations and technical solution descriptions
Show an understanding of customer needs and use technical expertise to develop customer solutions
Foreign language skills would be an advantage

Strong leadership skills, with ability to influence stakeholder organizations to deliver results
A creative and innovative approach to complex sales and deal structure
Strong negotiation skills
Ability to prioritize, organize and operate in a fast moving, aggressive environment
Work closely with customer service managers, supply chain, PLM and others to ensure a great customer experience
A team player and strong collaborator with superior verbal & written communication skills

Market and competitive awareness informed and decisive decision making
Knowledge of SDN, NFV, & Orchestration and how they can benefit customers in this market segment
The ability to demonstrate leadership in technical sales activities
The ability to build strong customer relationships and support an overall sales strategy
Adaptability and the ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision
