Position Summary

Our team is experiencing exciting growth within our established practice and we have a need for a new Construction Office Engineer Technician Specialist to join our team This person will perform and assist the Resident Engineer in all aspects of required office construction engineering work, as necessary Employee at this level performs work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor Work locations vary within San Bernardino and Riverside Counties

The candidate must be knowledgeable and experienced in the following area

Setting up and maintaining project files

Writing construction change orders

Processing required documents and progress payments

Prevailing Wage Laws and Regulations

Monitoring and enforcing labor compliance

Computers, computer applications, and computer software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others)

Subcontracting laws and policies

Promote and maintain safe working environment

Comply with company policies and procedures

Perform other job responsibilities as assigned


Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in civil engineering (ABET university) OR possession of a valid certificate as an Engineer-in-Training issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists, or issued by another jurisdiction and accepted by the California Board

At least 6 years of experience in highway construction office engineering

Required to have and maintain a satisfactory driving record

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required

Ability to effectively follow instructions and deal effectively with contractors and public

Ability to read and interpret roadway, structure, and bridge plans and specifications

Perform calculations using algebra, trigonometry and geometry

Knowledge and experience with equipment used in inspection and office engineering

Has knowledge and experience with computers, computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, and others)

Knowledge of principles of effective communication

Possession of a valid CA driver license

Able and willing to work day or night shifts and/or flexible schedules including weekends as required to support the project requirements

Work under exposure to inclement weather conditions

Knowledge of construction safety requirements

Essential Functions

Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs in the form of supplies, drawings, etc Longest distance carried of 50 feet Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation Right and/or left hands utilized Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same No foot controls necessary Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights
