What are the goals of the team and how can you contribute to its success

The Multi-Asset Solutions team designs, builds and manages multi-asset portfolio solutions, utilizing a top-down and bottom-up research approach in order to deliver diversified, actively managed investment strategies to institutional and retail clients

The Client Portfolio Manager is responsible fordesigning, engineering, and managing solutions focusing on small to moderate sized institutional clients, retail gatekeepers, and key advisors across Canada The incumbent is the primary investment management contact for clients and will communicate the teams investment philosophy, process and strategy, including asset allocation and strategic position of the portfolios, while ensuring delivery of superior investment performance and service to clients

To be successful in the role, the incumbent brings in-depth skills in investment consulting, client service and client retention Also, the incumbent should be proficient in multi-asset portfolio construction

NOTE The role can be based in either Toronto or Calgary Travel up to 30 PERCENT of the time is required for the role

What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Client Portfolio Manager role

Partners with Sales and Relationship Managers acting as a spokesperson for the teams investment philosophy, process and strategy in support of winning new portfolio mandates and retaining clients Meets with key decision makers at existing clients to provide periodic portfolio reviews and updates and seeks to understand, diagnose, and refine clients investment objectives and desired outcomes, leveraging more standardized types of solutions
Leverages core solutions investment capabilities with minimal tailoring to construct first draft of portfolios Socializes portfolios with impacted portfolio management and research teams as necessary, refines as needed, discusses with client, make further adjustments, and serves as primary investment management contact for the client
Serves as a member of the portfolio management team for funds that are closely aligned with core strategies Participates in Investment Strategy and Research Committee (ISRC) meetings and translates and interprets ISRC decisions for client consumption and client portfolios
Provides periodic portfolio commentary, and written communication pieces that articulate the investment teams perspective regarding the financial markets and fund performance
Leads and authors presentations and Request for Proposal (RFP) and Due Diligence Questionnaire (DDQ) responses for established solutions and customizes by client
Works on and leads cross-functional initiatives

What ideal qualifications would help someone to be successful

Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an asset

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation preferred, or currently enrolled in the program

7 to10 years of industry experience, with a preferred area of focus on Solutions or Multi-Asset Strategies

Prior experience as a Research Analyst, Portfolio Manager and/or Investment Consultant

Ability and confidence to engage at high levels of discussion on asset allocation and portfolio strategy and solutions

Experience delivering presentations on complex financial and economic topics to a broad audience

Proven ability to build relationships with clients and internal partners

Skills in Risk Factor Portfolio Analysis, Strategic Asset Allocation, Portfolio Construction, Qualitative Portfolio Software (Cognity, BarraOne, Bloomberg Port)
