About the Role

As a Claim Specialist, you will be responsible for a portfolio of Property & Casualty reinsurance claims across lines of business on your assigned multinational insurance company clients You will monitor the performance of your assigned portfolio against expectations You will meet with your clients to review the handling of individual losses and the performance of the portfolio, as well as, to gather and provide specific client and market insights You will follow key claims and legal developments and trends, analyze their impact on the identified portfolio and support an appropriate steering strategy You will provide excellent customer service to both your external and internal partners

The preferred geographic locations for this role are New York (Armonk), Illinois (Schaumburg) or Missouri (Kansas City)

Summary of key activities

Manage the effective and efficient disposition of claims on assigned accounts Analyze contractual obligations, ensure the establishment of appropriate case reserves, and approve payments within authority on claims covered by the contracts
Support the client claims team in handling of claims and losses to ensure quality claims service and properly investigated and controlled loss submissions
Provide insightful portfolio management and analysis
Formulate, develop and implement account management, including building and supporting the client relationship
Conduct client visits and claim audits to learn about our customers claim handling practices, confirm that claims are being handled according to industry standards and that claims are being handled in accordance with the terms of our contracts Provide outstanding customer service by suggesting improvements to claim handling practices and sharing industry and/or specific topic knowledge
Research and contribute on claim topics & trends, data regarding claims, loss development, contract wording issues and any other information requested by other units within Swiss Re
Work with senior management, cross-functional teams, and other units
Represent Swiss Re at industry events
Other duties and projects, as may be assigned by the manager of the Property & Casualty Claims Team

About You

3-5 years claims, insurance, reinsurance, and/or insurance related legal experience
Bachelors Degree required; Juris Doctorate preferred
Specific expertise in professional lines, E&O and/or D&O preferred
Strong interpersonal skills Capable and comfortable communicating with the highest level claim and legal officers in client companies and senior management at Swiss Re
Knowledge of or exposure to other insurance disciplines, ie, contract wording, accounting and underwriting
Confirmed ability to meet deadlines, implement plans, and conduct analysis
Excellent writing skills
Meaningful cross-functional collaboration
Basic data analytics skills with openness for continued growth
Proficient in Excel
Fast comprehension and eagerness to learn
Flexibility for business travel (~20 PERCENT )
