Overall Summary

The CBNA Deputy Chief Risk Officer (CBNA Deputy CRO) reports directly into the CBNA and ICG Chief Risk Officer (CBNA & ICG CRO) and supports the CBNA & ICG CRO in fulfilling all CBNA responsibilities The CBNA Deputy CRO supports the CBNA & ICG CRO in managing CBNA risk governance, management of credit, market and operational risk, and will, within designated credit limits, approve transactions and commitments on behalf of CBNA The role represents the CBNA CRO as necessary in meetings with regulators, on Committees, and with senior leaders The role partners closely with the CBNA Management Team to maintain CBNA portfolio quality and acceptable risk-reward profile, while improving overall CBNA financial and operational resiliency, ensuring a strong risk management and governance culture

Key Responsibilities

Approve credits booked on CBNA within designated risk limits
Review significant CBNA risks with the Board and Risk Management Committees on behalf of the CBNA & ICG CRO as required
Undertake the role as key regulatory contact for all CBNA risk-related matters
Supervise the monitoring and management of key CBNA risk limits, including the legal lending limit, prudential limits, and concentration limits; ensure effective controls and timely escalation of breaches ensure appropriate remediation
Monitor emerging risks and escalate to CBNA CRO as required
Represent CBNA on key bank risk forums

CBNA Capital & Liquidity Adequacy Review Panel (CLARP)

Serve as Chair of CBNA Risk Committee in absence of the CBNA & ICG CRO; voting member of the Committee and primary lead in ensuring completion of Committee obligations
Approve CBNA risk policy changes and ensure safety and soundness standards are appropriate; escalate to CBNA & ICG CRO as required


Bachelors degree required; advanced degree preferred
Senior Credit Officer (SCO) L2 with the capacity to become L1
15 years of total work experience with at least 7 years in management with increasing responsibilities
Experience in wholesale risk is highly preferred
Broad and deep senior risk management and organizational experience
Ability to manage in a global, matrixed organization and work collaboratively across the functions and businesses
Proven experience in Board level interactions and presentations
Proven strong presence with regulators and other key stakeholders
