Job summary

EXFO is seeking an experienced and motivated Deal Pursuit manager to drive the quality and effectiveness of our solution proposals to improve our strategic deal positioning, deal velocity and ultimately our win rate Working with a diversity of departments across the organization your interpersonal and organization skills will be second to none, you will have had experience of the Telecom equipment and solutions industry and have a strong commercial background with a good understanding of sales process You will be a strategic thinker capable of predicting outcomes and orchestrating internally on behalf of the sales team

Role

Reporting to the VP, Commercial Transformation the Deal Pursuit Manager will assemble a bid team with the relevant service / product / business knowledge required to prepare a winning bid You will oversee

Tender Acceptance
Bid project timing
Resources management (Interdepartmental virtual teams)
Solution management

Knowledge and solution management
Development of neutral bid library
Oversight of tailored commercial insights per proposal
Solution proposition quality

Financial Proposal management

Pricing & margin analysis
Revenue recognition profile
Risk analysis
Executive approvals

Responsibilities

Your principle responsibilities will include

Oversight of tender process including managing independent review teams for key gate reviews of both the solution and the financial proposals to maximize the bid quality
Contribute to refining the tender strategy and commercial theme proposed by the Sales teams
Enforce a solution audit by the project delivery team to ensure the proposal can be delivered within the projected costing and architecture proposed by the pre-sales engineering team
Assess tender risks and propose mitigation measures
Ensure that all agreements (especially external, with partners, etc) and commitments are documented to ensure robustness
Orchestrate the written proposal - both in terms of content and presentation and controlling the alignment of the executive summary to the main proposal
Ensure any changes after first submission during the sales negotiation (run by sales team) are assessed for risk & margin
If awarded, Facilitate handover meeting between sales and project execution team
Contribute to the Win/Loss Analysis, action plan follow-up and return of experience
Manage Database Libraries - organize and track all requests and responses, maintain and update databases regularly and contribute to the business intelligence team for proposal tracking & dashboard

Skills and Experience

The bid manager is not the expert but must have experience in multiple fields to be able to manage their virtual pool of experts effectively

Project Leadership Experience
Telecom background with knowledge of the Service Assurance market & competition
Financial experience (costing, revenue recognition, payment risk)
Ability to solve problems by being collaborative, creative and analytical
Ability to achieve outcomes with minimal direct supervision
High reactivity, proactivity and adaptability

Other requirements

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
French language would be a significant advantage
Highly proficient in MS Office suite
Must have citizenship or be permanent resident of EU or Canada
