Job Description:

The Associate Editor will work in close collaboration with the Managing Editor (ME), the US project team, and with Portfolio Managers in the US The incumbent will be responsible for providing general administrative and editorial support to Portfolio Managers (PM) while also managing other editors in the team based in Noida The Associate Editor will assist the PM with maintaining the mission-critical project database, a largely US-based author population and will support the Managing Editor in day-to-day management of the program as well as the Portfolios pub plan


Trained and supported by the Managing Editor and the PM works to understand and help support the publishing plan and work collaboratively with portfolio management on assigned portfolios

Communicates effectively and efficiently with internal and external (ie, authors, customers) stakeholders

Clarifies requests from stakeholders ensuring clear understanding of needs

Manages time and priorities effectively including, but not limited to meetings, internal work assignments provided by the Portfolio Manager, and Managing Editor

Monitors and coordinates specific book, video, live training, and web-based courseware deliverables in a timely manner

Reports directly to the Managing Editor

60 PERCENT Project Management

Work with authors to ensure that they are aware of their schedules and key deliverables, track author progress against these, generate reports showing progress against milestones and share with PM and ME

Work with marketing teams, PM and internal and external vendors to create and track key marketing deliverables

Manage technical review process, including recruiting reviewers, establishing review schedules, monitoring progress against schedules, managing the delivery of reviews to authors, working with authors to resolve any issues, and processing payments for reviewers

Schedule authors for live training where appropriate, communicate with Safari, enter all relevant information in the tracking database and monitor progress against milestones

Maintain dates for video post-production in the appropriate database and run weekly reports

Prepare manuscripts for delivery to the Production department, including preparing all production forms and documenting Rights & Permissions status

Communicate effectively with internal (PM, Rights & Permissions, Production, Royalties teams) and external (ie authors, vendors, customers, partners) stakeholders

20 PERCENT Team Management

Track the day-to-day tasks and activities for the team that need to be accomplished to ensure that the projects run smoothly

Manage editors to ensure that the team fully supports the US Portfolio

Summarize data, prepare reports and create trackers as required

Collate and distribute weekly reports as necessary

Assist in preparation and maintenance of documentation and workflows that help effectively implement the portfolio plans

20 PERCENT Administrative/Editorial Support

Work in the internal Pearson system to set-up and maintain project records and produce reports as required

Be responsible to prepare contracts; request ISBNs; process payments to authors, reviewers and vendors; update and correct project metadata in the appropriate internal system

Handle author queries, including queries concerning schedules, payments, tax forms, royalties

Attend weekly status meeting with ME, PM and follow up on any outstanding queries, as directed



This position requires a Bachelors and/or a Masters degree

At least 3 years of work experience, preferably in editorial, product development and/or production roles

Excellent and persuasive written and verbal communication skills

Ability to set goals, prioritize tasks, build effective agendas and lead successful and efficient meetings

Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders and work in teams with a high degree of functional diversity

Prior experience in digital product development/management or project management will be an advantage

Proficiency with PC & MAC, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
