Alstom is leading in the field of innovations aimed at reducing CO2 emissions, including the hydrogen-powered Coradia iLint train, H3 hybrid locomotive and the new fully own-developed electric Aptis bus

For all public transport companies in the Netherlands we are an important supplier of equipment and systems and were the partner to meet the growing need for public transport With Alstom being awarded a contract to supply the fleet of Intercity New Generation (ICNG) trains to the NS and the North/Southline in Amsterdam, Alstom Netherlands is a very successful team

In the Netherlands, Alstom Transport BV is located in Utrecht and Ridderkerk In Ridderkerk our service activities are concentrated on maintenance, field service, renovation, modernization, integration of electrical installations, hybrid traction and the delivery of parts & repairs The customer basis we service comprises the main Dutch operators like NS, RET, GVB, HTM as well as international customers

The Alstom site in Utrecht specializes in the complete delivery and maintenance of signalling systems, aimed at safe and efficient transport of trains, metros and trams Activities are conducted as engineering, testing and commissioning, maintenance and project management Alstom has implemented main line signalling systems as ERTMS for the Betuwe route and urban systems as CBTC for the Amsterdam metro/North-South Line

Alstom Transport BV is part of the Alstom Benelux organization and Alstom Europe organization


Recently Alstom has designated the Ridderkerk site as a competence center for delivering the new and innovative Alstom Digital Services program The Alstom HealthHub program will play an essential role and is the Alstom approach to predictive maintenance This innovative concept uses advanced algorithms to predict the future state of a given component HealthHub is a key enabler towards zero in-service breakdowns, maximized availability and optimized lifecycle costs

In addition to the existing services, we are going to set up our organization, competencies and infrastructure on new forms of condition-driven and predictive maintenance using big data, business intelligence, industrialization of digital service processes, tooling and 3D printing For the site, this means a fascinating and challenging change that offers the opportunity to put new maintenance and service concepts onto the market in a new innovative way From the worldwide Alstom organization, the necessary expertise is offered to make this a success

A Fleet Support Center (FSC) has now been set up in Ridderkerk, with which Alstom can remotely monitor its wide fleet of vehicles in the Netherlands Due to the expansion of these activities, reinforcement of the FSC team is needed

Purpose of the job

The purpose of this function is to translate big data into action-oriented reports upon which the Alstom organization and the customer can make decisions to optimize the fleet, reduce costs in the chain and / or improve the traveler experience


Optimize fleet performance
Reduce costs in the (maintenance) chain
Improve traveler experience


To create and maintain dashboards, and front-end configuring with a BI tool
To report regularly and accurately on the performance of the fleet, for internal use, and to report to the customer
Visualize remote diagnostic data, system downloads and depot reports for service failures and analyse data in order to

o identify any failure trends/anomalies and inform Engineering/Reliability Teams of possible improvements

o identify any minor failures that may require preventative maintenance

o provide detailed reports of system performance

Visualize data, find new relationships and patterns in order to;

o Create predictive maintenance models

o Improve asset life-cycle

o Increase vehicle availability

To provide the System, Maintenance development and Reliability engineers with specific analyses
Participate to critical task-force dedicated to troubleshooting if necessary
To highlight any anomalies in system performance or component failures as present in the data
To assist in providing training on the companys data reporting tools
Assist the data warehouse activities related to the Fleet Support Center
Through his activities, contributes to standardization by reusing existing solutions or by implementing reusable solutions
Contributes to continuous improvement (Return of Experience, processes)

Desired knowledge / Experience

A Bachelor or Masters degree in

Data science management or
Big data business analyst, or

At least 3 years of experience in a professional environment
Hands on experience with the set-up of dashboards and configuration of front ends
Experience in business intelligence or business analytics

Preferred previous experience in the rail industry


Dutch, English
