About the opportunity Department Description

Intelligent Automation is a newly formed, dynamic and exciting multi-skilled team that that will design, build and execute an automation strategy using PEX, Robotic Process Automation, Digital and AI tools

Delivering sustainable change across Fidelity by focusing on top down, strategic business priorities to maximise business and commercial value

Empowering and upskilling internal teams to create sustainable capability, and promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement as part of new and improved ways or working

Leveraging an integrated operating model to work with IT, Risk, Compliance, and Shared Services with an objective to deliver better outcomes for the business and our customers

Purpose of the Role

As a member of the Intelligent Automation Delivery Team, this role will work to progress Fidelitys IA agenda and embed innovation across the business, working with the business to design, develop and run automated tools to maximise business benefits

Specifically, this role will support in the analysis, design,development and testing of processes, including updates to existing live automation solutions, performing development activity in accordance with the methodologies and design standards as set by the CoE

The role can also act as Scrum Master for Delivery teams throughout the delivery lifecycle, to ensure automation / process optimisation solutions are delivered and maintained in line with CoE methodologies, design standards and tools

Key Responsibilities

Design and Development

Acts where required as a Scrum Master overseeing assigned delivery teams (eg Configuration / Process Excellence Analysts) as they perform day-to-day tasks, ensuring they live agile values and principles, and shielding them from outside distractions

Supports the analysis, design, and build of processes from a technical perspective

Conducts to be process design

Performs development activity in accordance with the methodologies and standards set by the CoE

Seeks guidance from the Technical Specialists when facing complex tasks

Provides status reports to Delivery Leads on the progress of development, per project

Carries out change impact assessments for both process change and system driven change, and performs associated change control practices

Prepares necessary documentation, supporting in process design, release notes, deployment guides, and operational guide materials required for production deployment

Provides defect fix support in identification of the issue, development and testing of the solution and works with the Governance and Technical Learning Manager to understand lessons learned to inform best practice and training opportunities


Prepares test cases and test plans, liaising with Technical Specialists to gather business input as required

Performs testing of automated processes ahead of their release into production

Applies the testing principles and processes as defined by the IA CoE

Plans and facilitates user acceptance testing

Records and communicates defects to be resolved, identifying any lessons learned and liasing with the Technical Learning Manager

Supports remediation of defects as required

Documents test results

Experience and Qualifications Required

Experience developing and testing software (desirable)

Understanding of IA technologies, the operational processes and when IA should be used (desirable)

Knowledge of business process modelling and reengineering (desirable)

Awareness of standard system development lifecycle processes (eg, agile, waterfall, etc) and change control disciplines (desirable)

Programming experience with an IA software (desirable)

Industry and development experience (desirable)

Proven track record in a similar role would be advantageous

Formal Blue Prism Training and working towards accreditation is desirable, however training will be provided

Excellent PC and MS Office skills, especially MS Excel, V-Lookups and macros

Ability to multi-task and prioritise workload with a keen attention to detail

Commitment to high standards of excellence and integrity

Resilient, energetic and enthusiastic; able to work under pressure

Able to build strong relationships with peers, business counterparts and key stakeholders

Excellent communication skills, comfortable with communicating to people of all levels and able to gain the confidence of key stakeholders


First degree level (Bachelors degree) or equivalent
Knowledge of the financial service industry
