Job Description:



  • Responsible for the management, configuration, maintenance and support of an EMC based Enterprise level Datacenter Backup environmentManaging a new EMC Data Domain and Networker solution and also maintaining and supporting installations of CA ArcServe r15/16, Symantec Net Backup and Tivoli TSM


Key accountabilities

Technical Activities


  • Ensure that all backup related calls are resolved within specified SLA s

  • Providing regular updates relating to incidents and their resolution

  • Appropriate liaison with the support teams and 3rd parties to ensure problems are resolved within SLA

  • Ensure accurate management reporting is distributed to relevant parties

  • When appropriate ensure proper escalation procedures are followed relating to backup/recovery issues

  • Proactively monitor the media capacity and throughput capability of the backup environments

  • Ensure that all necessary documentation is kept up to date

  • Deliver out of hours support through the On Call rota

  • Ensure that necessary morning checks and reports are completed with actions completed as and when required

  • Thorough and effective use of operational procedures

  • Ensure any enhancement and project work is delivered to the agreed scope and on time and within budget (SLA)

  • Comply with departmental policies (ie change control, security standards)

  • Comply with policy, audit and legal requirements such as Health & Safety, Data Protection Act and follow company policies

  • Working across Travelex worldwide

Preferred Technical Skills


  • Worked in large datacentre, remote support/coordination environment (financial domain)

  • Experience with CA Arcserve, Symantec Netbackup, Tivoli TSM and Commvault Simpana

  • Experience in designing and implementing backup solutions

  • Accreditation in Enterprise Backup technologies

  • The ability to train and mentor junior team members and colleagues on areas of expertise

  • Familiarity with IT Security implementation and Business Continuity Management

  • Good technical and process documentation skills

  • Interested in learning/evaluating new technologies/skills
