Description

The Azure Ops engineers work within the global Azure Cloud Services team, are responsible for making sure all customer aspects of the platform are operational and managed This will include ensuring that the Platform has a robust support model providing 24 x 7 coverage, defined SLAs, meets all Business Continuity objectives and has change management and audit trails

Reporting to the Azure Service Delivery Manager and working with Microsoft support, internal infrastructure teams, DevOps teams, Cyber Security, Azure Engineering and customers to ensure that we are providing a platform that is secure-by-design and compliant with HSBC mandatory policies and security standards

Key Accountabilities

Responsibilities will include

Infrastructure compliance, management of any unauthorised technologies on the platform
Act on/take appropriate action as a result of any SIEM events
Participate in creation of business continuity planning for the Azure platform and carry out regular tests/invoke in line with HSBC standards Business contingency standards

On a rotational on call basis to provide out of business hours support as part of our 24 x 7 coverage

Update support and operational documentation as required

Ensure good change management practice is implemented as specified by central standards

Integrate Azure monitoring solution with internal Incident management people, process and tools

Identify, communicate and initiate problem management processes

Manage and implement change in accordance with HSBC processes

Integrate Azure technologies with existing configuration process and tooling

Responsible for Azure foundation platform conformity to HSBC Operational Risk standards

Responsible for defining and ensuring we meet Azure Foundation platform SLAs

Responsible for ensuring that robust SIEM (logging) and Monitoring processes are operational

Develop and promote the reuse of patterns

Provide management reporting to ensure data driven discussions for continuous improvement

Gather requirements and provide continuous feedback loops between Cyber security and the wider Azure Cloud Services team

Qualifications and experience

The ideal candidate for this role will have the below experience and qualifications

Experience (2 years) working within an operations team of a large complex multinational environment (Financial Services preferred)

Awareness of an ITSM frameworks (Support, Delivery and Implementation)

Experience dealing and responding to IT Audit

Understanding of Identity and Access Management principles and tools (eg Privileged Access)

An understanding of role based access controls and organisational hierarchies

Pro-actively identify manual activates to feed into service improvements (eg Automation)

Experience in dealing with Cloud service providers (eg Azure, AWS and Google GCP)

Experience in dealing with multiple support groups that contribute to a service

A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change

Set and achieved challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their field

Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences

Essential Skills

Experience (2 years) working within an operations team of a large complex multinational environment (Financial Services preferred)

Managing their own time and prioritising workloads

Have excellent written, verbal and presentation skills

Demonstrable Risk Management knowledge

Keen problem solving skills (Analytical and Creative)

Experience working within an Agile team environment

Ability to quickly acquire new skills

Desirable Skills

Industry recognised cloud certifications

ITIL qualification

Programming experience in one or more of the following languages PowerShell, Terraform, Go, Bash, windows command prompt and object orientated programming languages

Understanding of Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD) and continuous testing techniques and tooling

Technical knowledge (Cloud Service Providers, IAM, OS, CI/CD and automation tooling)

Technical knowledge and breadth of Azure technology services (Identity, Networking, Compute, Storage, Web, Mobile, Containers, Databases, Analytics, AI & Machine learning)

Experience operating in highly regulated industry, eg Financial Services
