As part of P&T, the Projects & Engineering department adds value to Shell in two distinct ways Our organisation is the project execution engine that safely and efficiently executes new projects for our business partners in Downstream, Integrated Gas and Upstream And Projects & Engineering provides differentiated, business critical support to existing assets operated by our business partners, both at Shell operated ventures (SOVs) and non-operated ventures (NOVs)

By delivering capital projects, enabling operational excellence through differentiated asset support, and bringing commercial value delivery to Shells bottom line, Projects & Engineering enables Shell to deliver on its strategy and purpose The Asset Support and Engineering Organisation in P&T consists of multi-disciplined Asset Support teams dedicated to the main Lines of Business

Whats the role

The role will sit in the asset support team for Downstream Manufacturing Business The Automation Engineer is responsible for supporting producing assets as a portfolio within a region or even globally, not restricted to the specific line of business Specific responsibilities are to provide technical expertise in Automation Engineering which includes

To provide highest quality engineering services and customer value such that PACO is the first choice of our customers

To lead and engage with other engineers from Shell Projects & Technology, Shell operating companies, joint ventures and non-Shell customers to maximize value delivered from PACO technology

To derive value for Shell through participation in industry, academia, standards consortia/other forums

To actively pursue global alignment and standardization with other regions and disciplines

To actively collaborate and share knowledge effectively across the Shell enterprise

To actively pursue P&T organization vision in project and asset support and leveraging technology to support bottom line of the company

The scope of this position is to support the assets to ensure they are safe, reliable and maximizing operating margin The work processes that are under the direct control or are influenced by this position include Instrumented Protective Functions, asset integrity management, PCD-IT, DCS and Fire and Gas Systems management, assessing design changes, incident investigations, root cause analysis, training, technical training course delivery

Requirements

What we need from you

Were keen to speak to talented individuals with experience in managing delivery of affordable technology, projects and operations support You will have excellent stakeholder management skills, visible leadership in safety and inclusion, and at the same time, a great network of other technical authorities, Principal Technical Experts, or Subject Matter Experts

You will support PTEs in the Instrumentation, Control and Electrical (ICE) Functional Team, including supporting the functional improvement agenda and supporting technical networks & communities within ICE, equally as important is your full understanding of Shells business and health & safety programs

Equally as important, is your proven ability to master the following competencies

Process Automation Systems (PAS) Engineering

SIS & Safeguarding

Field Instrumentation

PCD Integrity & Security

Analyzer Engineering

To meet the above requirements, you will be required to have a sound understanding of process or production engineering aspects applicable to continuous Petrochemical production processes

We expect you to have a bachelors degree in Instrumentation, Control Engineering, Electronics or Mechanical engineering alongside significant experience in the field

Preference will be given to candidate having good knowledge of PAS design and maintenance and of managing the PAS Life Cycle In addition, it is a preference if the candidate has good Process Safety knowledge, including a certification as Functional Safety Engineer (TV)
