The Business Banking Risk team is focused on a range of risk types generated through the partnership with BB functional groups One area of focus is Credit Risk, where decisions are rendered on incoming credit requests from small business customers Credit requests are sourced through our Business Relationship Managers located in the markets they serve

Key Responsibilities

Manages a team of high performing underwriters and responsible for all administrative matters related to the team including employee assessment, feedback, coaching and performance improvement plan
Responsible for stakeholder management, performance metrics, constant process improvement, and driving the right behavior and attitude that is aligned to business objectives

Steps in to independently perform credit analysis and portfolio management activities during capacity constraints in the team

Ensures high quality output through random audit checks of major deliverables of the team and provides corrective measures

Responsible for timely team staffing, onboarding and training

Meets assigned timelines and ensure documentation requirements are met per the business and audit requirements

Usually works independently with limited direct supervision

Point of contact from India to support all business led projects/initiatives

7-10 plus years experience as a credit underwriter or similar position requiring business knowledge and credit judgment
Preferably a post graduate or an advanced degree in business management, finance or accounting
Project and Change Management experience preferred
Ability to formulate and articulate objective views based on professional analysis
Thorough knowledge of credit philosophy, Risk Guidelines and policies, loan documentation, bankruptcy and related legal issues
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, as well as analytic and problem solving skills
Good organization skills and ability to work within time constraints in a highly regulated industry
Works effectively in a team environment, while assuming individual responsibility and helping develop the junior level analysts
Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally to achieve measurable results
Must maintain a high level of accuracy with attention to detail
Highly motivated team player
Have a solid understanding of computer systems and Microsoft applications
