What are the ongoing responsibilities of an Associate Manager - Information Technology in the Infrastructure Operations

This position will be the leader who will create the team, hire the people and build a world class tools team which manages the tools, supports their day to day operation, works with other teams to use and expand the use of the tools This position not only will lead the team, but will also be proficient in several, able to support several, and able to help promote the use of the tools with other teams at Franklin The ability to learn and grow and promote learning and growth within the team are critical The current set of tools this team will manage are TrueSight Server, Automation/BMC BladeLogic Server Automation (BSA), TrueSight Capacity Optimization (TSCO), IBM Tivoli Monitoring tools (Tivoli), Microsoft SCOM, Zabbix, Elastic ELK, SALT and IBM License Metric Tool (ILMT)

The team will be built from the ground up, with engineers and senior engineers that are capable in several of the tools mentioned The leader will hire them, organize the team, set up roles and responsibilities, set up a 7x24 support shift structure and provide leadership both inward and outward focused The engineers in the team will be expected to work with other teams that leverage the tools the engineer supports,

Primary disciplines will include the operations Run, management and technical oversight of the areas mentioned above It also includes working with peers supporting each other in operational support

Secondary disciplines will include working with other teams to deliver quality, and continuously improving, services to our customers

Specific Responsibilities

Personnel management including hiring, coaching, group organization and mentorship

The ability to communicate with and influence local and remote personnel at international locations

Operate, enhance and expand the use of the tools under management

Monthly operational reporting, relative to the services and tools managed, to the Senior Vice President of Operational Cloud Services

Participate in high severity operational incidents Act as an escalation point for the Tools team Work with Incident Management to ensure prompt service restoration

Work with the Problem Management team and ensure that operational action items related to problems are registered, tracked, resolved and closed in a timely fashion

Working with Change Management, oversee and approve operational changes ensuring, adequate coordination across partner teams, and that changes are appropriately scheduled considering their risk and business impact

Management of your teams audit responses, coordinated through a peer organization, including oversight of request fulfillment, working with Audit on findings, and working with other teams on management responses

Stay abreast of new and emerging technologies and processes Evolve and apply to continuously improve IT services

Independently, as a team member and leader, lead, influence and mentor technical concepts/methods and associated operational processes Make and influence technical and business decisions

Mentor junior team members and support partner teams to enhance their skills and abilities in the tools supported

As required (rarely), travel to business locations in support of Operational activities

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful

2 - 5 years experience managing staff, preferably with responsibility over automation and/or monitoring tool sets for global mid to large sized corporations with geographically dispersed populations

Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with Engineering, Incident/Problem/Change management, Application Deployment and business teams to meet service objectives and enhance their work as well as your own teams

Demonstrated management, and team building experience, improving overall performance during tenure

Demonstrable experience with 2 or more of the tools under the groups responsibility

Demonstrable experience with programming and scripting in multiple shells and languages

Demonstrable development experience

Passionate, collaborative, results-oriented leader with a proven track record of developing and operating effective and appropriate Infrastructure solutions

Experience improving cost efficiencies in an infrastructure operations team

Experience in teaming with geographically distributed and culturally diverse work-groups

Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must be able to effectively and proactively communicate complex operational ideas, subjects, and directions to technical and non-technical audiences

Strong organization, planning, and project management skills

Strong interpersonal / relationship management skills

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience

Desired Qualifications

Financial Services industry experience

Strong technical background and proven leadership more than 2 of the tools listed

Experience with other technologies such as Unix/Linux, Windows, SAN and NAS storage devices

Expertise in the areas of Information Security and Risk Management, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery/Avoidance
