Why this role matters

The post holder will be part of DevOps team supporting Nagios IMPSS plugin code development work and reporting The post holder will act as technical member supporting new and existing products that come under the responsibility of the team

What youll be doing

Roles & Responsibility

Writing Test Modules using Python/Perl for Nagios which includes health check, disk usage of different types of devices like Cisco Appliances, checkpoint Appliances, Juniper Appliances etc

Identify opportunities for automation and work closely with Platform Ops team for reducing manual effort

To ensure that source code for software produced is of an acceptable quality, both in terms of requirements and scalability

Provide assistance and training to technical support staff within Delivery/Ops team to improve diagnostic skills and thereby reduce unwarranted fault tickets

To support in Business development and defining future strategy

Development of Management/Monitoring tool Nagios for Reporting

Performing Enterprise Systems Monitoring (ESM) and implementing popular monitoring enterprise suites such as Nagios

Bug fixing and addition of new features to existing infrastructure tools

To Support SLAs in relation to Incident and Problem Management, Service / Network Change Management, Firewall Management and proactive and reactive reporting while doing development

Understanding on Kibana Tools for creating Dashboards

Understanding on Jenkins / Puppet / ANSIble Tools

Undertsnading on GitHubs for Version Controlling

External interaction

External Customers for user Access management

External customers for incident support as required

External customers for change / account management as required

Timeframe

This is a global operational role and is focused on creating pan BT strategies and operational plans that execute within the next 24 month timeframe

Qualifications

Typically qualified to degree level, or equivalent professional experience and/or with recognised qualifications

Skills & Experience

Eperience in Python/Perl Scripting and Programming Language

Experience on Network Protocol testing and any Security Management tool Development

Awareness of Incident/Problem/Change Management

Stakeholder management, Risk Management & Problem solving

Effective Communication, including verbal, report writing & presentations skills

Technical Skills

Scripting Python, Perl/PHP Scripting , Java Script ( Mandatory)

Database - MySQL, Oracle

Revision Control System - GIT , GITHUBS

Tools - Puppet / ANSIble / Jenkins / Kafka Elastic Search / Kibana

Operating System-Unix-REDHAT /Linux ( Mandatory)

Network environment-Virtualization

Understanding of Network and security Environment and tools
