Role Overview
This position is for a Staff Engineer, Systems Engineering on the Advanced Systems team in the Military Avionics and Helecopters (MA&H) Advanced organization The Advanced Systems team is a research and development group responsible for supporting the maturation of key emerging technologies and differentiators required to position Rockwell Collins for both current and future growth opportunities; supporting our military and their partners This includes, but is not limited to, advancements in next generation Human Machine Interface (HMI), helmet mounted displays, flight management systems, communications management and vehicle control, personal electronic devices, as well as, model based engineering processes, tools, techniques, formal methods analysis, cyber security and Open Systems development The Staff Engineer will serve as lead Systems Engineer for Future Systems Architectures The ideal has a cross-disclipline background in Systems and Software engineering and can contribute in both capacities The ideal candidate also understands the competitive landscape and contributes to strategic technology plans based on the companys competitive positions The candidate may serve as technical leader for development and integration activities for highly strategic development project teams The candidate may also support pursuit teams and development of technical proposals

Primary Responsibilities
- Contribute to technology roadmaps in participation with internal and external stakeholders

- Execute technical investigations and evaluations - Support early stage design activities

- Generate designs and requirements for next generation flight decks and operator stations

- Demonstrate feature prototypes to internal and external customers

- Work across a multi-disciplinary & matrixed team to drive technology and solutions forward

- Work as a unifier across software and systems engineering to help architect future solutions

- Lead development of HMI, ConOps, and software systems architecture

Qualifications

- Experience with military and/or commercial avionics systems

- Experience with software system design

- Experience with new or novel execution and implementation techniques and processes

- Agile development experience

- Experience with advanced networking

- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, excellent interpersonal skills and proactive problem-solving abilities

- Must be a self-starter, be able to multi-task, and take advantage of opportunities and events to achieve results

- Maintain and active interest in study, learning, and continuous self-development

- Experience with design, requirements capture, development, and integration of complex avionics hardware/software systems
